School/Scouting Programs
Our Group Provides Members for On-Site School or Scouting Programs from Primary to Secondary Grades Throughout the Tri-State Region
This includes NY, all of NJ and parts of PA.
We provide uniformed members of our re-enactment unit for classroom discussions, displays, or for living histories on your school property or at other locations
We will tailor the presentation to your school's history program or scouting needs and enhance the "history experience" with hands on demonstrations and discussions. Unlike some other programs, we will work within your budget.
Our programs include but are not limited to:
Display of reproduction equipment and original equipment
Soldier's food
Uniforms
Small artillery
Discussions
Period banjo music with handmade banjos*
Demonstrations including marching and firing of weapons**
Informational handouts
Safety briefing to school authorities or scouting officials prior to your event
For Scouting events, we can provide a demonstration at your event or run a "Camp of Instruction" for Scouts to learn what a Civil War soldier experienced. This can be done over the course of a day or weekend. Please contact us in advance as most of our re-enactments are on weekends. This would include drilling, working as a soldier, pickets (sentry duty) and a mock skirmish and or patrol.

**For weapons display and firing demonstrations, paperwork must be filled out PRIOR to our attendance at your event. We will be glad to forward that to you well in advance along with instructions on how to complete the forms.
Police permission is required for any firing demonstrations.
Any and all permits needed for these events must be obtained by the requesting institution prior to our arrival on site. A copy of the permits must be forwarded to the 2nd Texas at least one week prior to the event.
The 2nd Texas Cavalry Co A, Inc is fully insured and carries complete liability insurance. Certificates can be furnished with the event paperwork. We will provide a safety briefing to your group in advance of the event.
Our group provides all the paperwork that you will need for the event along with the instructions.
