Getting Started

These are the items that you need to get started in the 2nd

Uniform and Equipment for Field Service

All listed items are MANDATORY for field service

1. Kepi with Yellow Cavalry Band.

2. Seven Button Grey Sack Coat with TEXAS Buttons or Nine Button Grey Shell Jacket with TEXAS Buttons (Both must be 100% wool not a blend). 9 button Jeancloth Shell Jacket

3. Grey Wool Pants (Winter Service) White Cotton Pants (Summer Service) or tan canvas pants (post 1862)

4. Black or Tan Belt with Oval TEXAS Belt Buckle.

5. Black or Tan Cap Pouch.

6. Black or Tan Ammunition Box (Carbine Box Preferred).

7. Canteen.Wood or Wool Covered. No Stainless Steel. (You MUST have a canteen)

8. Haversack. Tarred or Canvas.

9. Tin Cup, Knife, Fork, Spoon and Plate.

10. Rifle Cleaning Kit for Rifle. (Required)

11. Rifle (You have 1 (one) Year to obtain Rifle).

12. Brogans.(Or shoes that can pass for period).

13. Great Coat (For Winter Service).

14. Rubber Poncho.

The above listed items should be purchased before any other "goodies". All uniforms must be 100% wool. No poly/wool blends. If you intend to camp out, you will be required to obtain a tent and camping gear which is period correct. Do not purchase anything until you have checked with us first.

Mercury Sutler has been gracious enough to set us up with a "package" for new members. It includes the "basic" Uniform and leathers (no shoes)

We can put the order together for you at the time of your acceptance into the unit.
