Cavalry Cadets/CSMC Cadets
Training for Future Troopers/Marines
We provide training through our Cadet Corps in infantry tactics and cavalry operations for all those under the age of 16 and over 10 yrs.
Our primary training is cavalry, however, we will train with infantry if time permits. We will provide non-functional weapons for drill. We also will provide training for all aspects of cavalry operations.
We also will train to the Confederate Marine Cadet as well.
Any member who has a son or daughter who is interested in the 2nd Texas Cavalry Cadet Corps/ Marine Cadet Corps may contact us here. If you have a son or daughter who is interested and you are not a member of the unit, you must be present at events.
Cadets wear the same uniform(Cavalry or Marine) and assist during encampments and demonstrations.
The following will pertain to a cadet:
The cadet will profess a desire to participate in living history
The cadet will appear in FULL UNIFORM at all events (See Uniform Guidelines)
The cadet will assist in daily duties around the camp including sentry duty with a senior member of the unit
The cadet will return the respect and courtesy shown to them
The cadet will maintain a passing report from their school. This will be shown to the Commander of the 2nd at the beginning of the campaign season
The cadet will be required to keep a written journal of their experiences at the events throughout the year
The cadet will show proficiency with the manual of arms and drill
The cadet will maintain their living quarters at an event in a neat and sanitary manner
