Start of the 2040 Turn

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! The 2040 Turn has officially begun! The new history section for 2040 has been posted, thank you to Liam for his efforts writing the articles, he did in a few days what would take me months to achieve.

The release of the budget files and Settlement_List went about as well as I feared and I have ended up replacing them. Note that if you want to increase one of your Military Infrastructure levels then you must first enter a value in cell N34 for the total number of Supply units consumed by all of your Military Units at the beginning of the Turn.

This brings up an important subject, in prior turns I calculated the basic maintenance costs in Supply Units for Military units, and the status of your military units for almost all of your nations. I started to do that for some of the nations this turn, and then I stopped, I realized I was being silly. I was spending ridiculous amounts of time trying to hunt up exacting details on actions that I was not really intimately familiar with; you are, it is your nation, so it is your job. So for now on I am going to expect that your orders include:

-Consumption of Supply Units by World. Initial stockpile, number moved in/out, number produced. Sum consumed by all Military Units on that world and sum consumed by each Settlement. A number for the final stockpiled reserve for each Settlement.

-The uplift and downlift of all units between the surface and orbit hex. Show the movement does not exceed available capacity.

-The status of each of your military units kept updated on the section for your nation in the main website. Losses, location, etc need to kept current

If you do not do this then your turn orders are NOT COMPLETE and will not be accepted.

Onto bonus Response PAs. For the new players this is the closest we get to some kind of victory conditions in this game, this is where the GM hands out bonus Response PAs as a reward for good play in the previous turn. In the words of our GM:

David gets 2 bonus PAs for North Korea gameplay and he can put them where he wants seeing as NK is no longer a PC.

Luis gets 2 bonus PAs: 1 bonus PA for German world responsibility gameplay and 1 PA for being so active on RPOL and contributing to rules etc all the time.

Liam gets 2 bonus PAs: 1 for good gaming and 1 for the articles.

Michael gets 1 for patience...

Kelvin. 3PAs because he is such a totally awesome guy. Ok, Andreas did not say that but he gave me leave to.

From reading the comments I need to make something clear, the budget spreadsheets are not the place for your orders, nor are they some kind of status sheet listing everything you own. I know that in the past we were hoping otherwise, but there is just not enough screen space for those kinds of things. The budget files are about what you will be buying and why, or simplifying some complex calculation like uplift capacities, nothing more. Maybe some time we will get around to making an official form for orders and status, but not this turn.

Your orders will be due March 14th @1200 UTC. That is quite a bit longer than what I would like to give but we have 3 new players we need to bring up to speed. I will likely be travelling in early March and may only be sporadically in contact during that time but I will make every effort to be available to answer the questions of the new players.

Let the games begin!
