Esther E. Hansen, 58, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A celebration of her life and remembrance service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 27, 2010, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, with Reverend Dennis Ganz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Friday at the chapel.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Esther E. Hansen was born in Red Oak, Iowa, on November 5, 1951, the daughter of Waldo V. and Betty June (Hauser) Anderson. The family moved to California in 1954, and Esther was adopted by James F. and Hattie E. (Dow) Hall. Esther was united in marriage to Daniel M. Russell in 1972, and had two children, Tanya J. Russell and Daniel J. Russell. Esther moved back to Clinton, Iowa in 1996, where she met Harold E. Hansen and moved to Clear Lake in 1999. They were united in marriage on November 23, 2002, in Clear Lake.

Esther worked out of her home as a seamstress for over 30 years, and also worked for Cottage Cleaners in Clear Lake for three years, before working in the kitchen for two years at the V.F.W., and prior to her death was head cook at the Clear Lake Senior Citizens Center for two years.

Esther was a member and in good standing for 4 years in the Clear Lake Pride Lions Club and left as 2nd Vice President.

Esther enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, was involved in the civil war reenactment, and did volunteer work for many organizations.

Esther is survived by her husband, Harold Hansen of Clear Lake; daughter, Tanya J. Russell of Elk Grove, California, son, Daniel J. Russell of Folsom, California, stepsons, Luke C. Hansen of Mason City, and Paul E. Hansen of Clear Lake; her mother Betty Anderson; several brothers and sisters, Beth Conway, Clinton, IA, Luanda Sue Haloran, Los Angeles, CA, Robert V. Anderson, CA, John P. Anderson, CA, Jim A. Anderson, Clinton, IA and Winona Caszatt, Elverta, CA ; many nieces and nephews; as well as many other extended family members and friends. Esther is also survived by her two special Dachshounds, Frankie and Blue.

Esther was preceded in death by her biological father, Waldo V. Anderson, and by her adopted parents.

Don't shed tears at my passing, for I will always be with you, as you remember me and the good times and laughter we shared. It was a privilege to have known each and every one of you. I can't imagine my life not having all of you walking along with me on the wonderful journey! Remember my dear family and friends how much you mean to me and how much I truly love you!
