Home School Tuition
For Approved Semester Programs
Simmons has a Home School Tuition (HST) model to provide greater access to study abroad programs for all Simmons students, no matter their financial means. Students must choose a program on our approved semester programs list to be eligible for Home School Tuition. When participating in an HST program, students pay the same tuition to Simmons as if they were on campus. Depending on the program students will either be charged a Simmons housing fee, if their program can bill Simmons for housing or will need to pay housing on site, in which case Simmons will not bill them for housing. Students will be able to use any Simmons institutional financial aid (scholarships, grants, merit aid, etc.) as well as federal aid, while studying abroad. Simmons will pay tuition and in some cases housing fees directly to the host institution/third party provider on behalf of the student. Students are responsible for paying for meals, airfare and other miscellaneous charges, unless otherwise noted.
If your total financial aid exceeds your Simmons' charges for the semester, you will have a credit balance on your account and should request a refund of this credit, to use for your study abroad expenses. You must submit your Enrollment Certification form to SFS once you arrive abroad in order for them to confirm your enrollment and disburse your aid. Also, be sure to sign up for direct deposit so that you can easily receive/access any refund(s) while abroad.
