This help supplements the SIL 2SV website.
Under Smartphone App click Lost or New.
Follow the instructions on the next pages to set up the smartphone app on your new phone.
Option #1:
Install the Authy app OR the Google Authenticator app on both phones.
Have both phones ready. Log into your profile and enable the smartphone app. If you've already enabled it, disable it and then re-enable it.
A QR code will display on the screen:
Scan the QR code with the first phone and set up the account in the app.
Then scan the QR code with the other phone and repeat the process.
Since the QR code is the same for both phones, both will now be able to provide the code you will need later for verification.
Option #2: Use Authy as your smartphone app and configure a master password. You can then install Authy on multiple devices, and it will sync all your accounts across all the devices.
If you click the Remove button for all 2-Step Verification options on your Identity Account Profile page, you will receive the following:
a warning on the Identity Account Profile page
an email notifying you that 2-Step Verification was disabled
However, the next time you try to log in, you will be redirected to your Identity Account Profile to set up 2SV. You will not be able to log in without setting it up.
Why don't the codes from my smartphone work?
If your smartphone does not get the date and time automatically from your cellular service provider, the code the smartphone app displays will not be the code that the Identity Account program expects.
To adjust your smartphone:
Go to its Date & time setting:
For IOS phone, go to Settings > General > Date & time
For Android, go to Settings > System > Date & time
Verify that Automatic date & time is on.
If you are using Google Authenticator:
Open the app
Select the 3 dot menu in the top right
Select Settings
Select Time correction for codes
Select Sync Now
