You are initially provided ten 8-digit printable codes. Each may be used one time.
Go to https://sil-pw.iidp.net/#/ and click Login.
In the My SIL Identity page, click the Replace button in the Printable Backup Codes section.
Choose a way to save printable codes.
Click Finish.
No.
If you print a new set when you start to run out of codes, you will not run out.
When the Identity Account application sees that you have three codes remaining, it begins to suggest that you print a new set of codes. After you print the new set from your Identity Account Profile, the remaining ones from the current list are voided.
If you don't print a new set of codes, and you use your final code, the application will automatically display a fresh set of codes on your screen.
CAUTION: If you do not print or save this fresh set of codes before you use your final code, you will no longer have a way to print the new codes. You will not be able to log in. If this happens, you need to contact us.
A site asks you for a code every time if you do either of the following:
use your browser in Incognito mode
set your browser to delete all cookies every time you close your browser
You should have your codes available whenever you need to access one of the applications protected by your Identity Account. As a best practice, do NOT store these backup codes in your password manager, because that would store your username, password, and printable codes in the same place.
No, but you can access your profile for the codes, even if you are having problems with 2-Step Verification.
If you enter a valid username and password but cannot successfully provide 2SV information, do the following:
Click More Options on the 2-Step Verification page
Click I need help.
On the next page you will see the masked email address of your "rescue me" point of contact. This person is often your manager. Click Send.
Ask the person for the code they received.
Enter the code on the 2-Step Verification page and select Verify.
The application send a different code each time you click Send. Any of the codes will work, and none of them will expire until the first time you successfully log in. Then, all the codes are voided.
