Art 2 is a graded course where students are evaluated on work habits, creativity, and overall effort. This 12 week course will have students explore many different mediums, and go in depth with control and skill building strategies with these materials. Students will have the opportunity to find areas of art that are interesting to them, and also try other materials that they may have little experience.
The students’ responsibilities are as follows:
You will be working in many different mediums. Each project will run about 5-7 class periods (work times may be adjusted according to the teachers observation). Students will participate in a self-evaluation of their work, a class evaluation (where noted), and a final evaluation from the teacher.

Abstract Sculpture: Choose an abstract or geometric design. This project should not be easily recognizable. Create a base using wire, mat board, newspaper, tape, etc. Plaster and paint. Must be free standing or attached to a base.
Linoleum prints: The students will learn about bas relief carving, and the understanding of how the positive and negative effect can occur in carving and making prints. The student will receive a 4 by 6 piece of linoleum. The students will think of an interesting design or subject and use carving tools to create it in their linoleum. The student will be required to print their linoleum print on at least 3 different surfaces. The students will be encouraged to be creative and to not use the same old paper! Materials: Linoleum, carving tools, block printing ink, and multi-surfaces for printing.
