On the back, make sure you have a good theme! Here are some good examples:
Animal, sports, abstract, 3D, or your own theme!
Students can look up these key words in google: Andy Warhol, Pop Art, Giant Candy Bars, Paper Mache. By having the students look up these topics, this will give them a bit more insight and knowledge to our project.
The students will need to bring a wrapper or an empty box of their favorite candy for the next art class, or they can google it on their computer. I will also encourage students to look at the shape of these wrappers, and visualize what It would look like if somebody were to magnify it!
(day 1), the students will discuss pop art.
(day 2): Students will decide on their shape of paper (long and skinny, basic rectangle, or square). We will discuss how to measure out their letters and designs so it all fits on the paper. If they get this done, they can trace everything with a marker or sharpie.
(day 3-4): Start painting. They can spoon out a few colors at a time on a palette so they don't waste what colors they need. We will work together to make any special colors. When the paint is dry, we will re-trace anywhere that is needed to be neatened up.
Final steps: Fold and staple, and stuff with newspaper. The project can be flat in the back so they can hang them up on their walls!
