Listen to information and research Ancient Cave Art
Look at different styles of Cave Art.
Brainstorm what their needs/wants were back in cave art time, and compare it to now.
Get into a group and create their own cave drawings using group effort and stories created.

Use found materials to make paint with from outside
The purpose of this lesson is for students to explore and create Egyptian Art by building an Egyptian ceremonial mask.
The Artist will:
Day 1: Discuss what they know about Egypt and Egyptian Art.
Look at books and artifacts from Egyptian Art, check out iphoto slideshow.
Look at pictures of masks and discuss the colors and features associated with the designs.
Day 6-7: Paint using gold, silver, blue, red, and purple.
Materials: face forms, 12x18 poster board, royal colors for accents.

Day 1: Create their ornament using the idea of holiday symbolism
Day 2: Paint their ornaments.
Greek Art: 6th Grade
The Purpose of this project is to become familiar with Greek Pottery and it's meaning, while using 3D drawing Techniques.
The Artist will:
Observe and research about Greek Pottery using the internet and certain websites.
Discuss as a class the reasons for the Greek Pottery, and how it usually tells a story in pictures (sports, battle, theatrical, music).
Discuss Ellipses and practice this 3D drawing technique.
Talk about Symmetry and use it to create their sketches of their pottery (folding and rubbing, or fold and hold up to the light).
Create a Greek style vase using the techniques shown and create a scene that tells a story.
Draw on a large paper, trace, and paint using similar colors used in Greek times.
Materials: large paper, paint, pencils.

The Shoe Project
The Purpose of this lesson is for students to relate a famous artist or artist's style to a common everyday object, and create an image of that relation.
The artist will:
Observe several paintings, and learn about the artists and their styles of art.
Choose an interesting style or picture, and create a sketch in that similar style.
Bring in a shoe, and paint that painting or similar style onto their shoe!
Prime the shoe, sketch their design, and paint that picture (or a similar style), onto the shoe.
Be creative, and be able to name the style or artist they modeled their shoe after!
Materials: Shoe, several styles of paintings and artists to look at, paint, brushes.
