Dear Angels Community,
This is an urgent reminder regarding our school's strict policy against vaping and the possession of vaping devices on school grounds.
Our policy is in place to protect student health and maintain a safe learning environment. To ensure compliance, we have recently enhanced our security measures.
Our vape detection sensors in restrooms have been updated and are now highly sensitive and active.
Time-stamped video surveillance across the school campus continues to be monitored closely.
We are reinforcing our commitment to this policy. Please be aware that any student found in violation of the no-vaping policy will face immediate disciplinary action, including suspension and the potential for expulsion.
We ask that you speak with your child tonight about the serious health risks of vaping and the severe, non-negotiable school consequences for any violation.
I have some exciting news. Fr. Richter will be teaching Mr. Hagopian will be passing on his 1st hour Personal Morality course to Fr. Richter for the duration of the semester. This decision was made to allow Mr. Hagopian to have more time to meet the needs of his family and other school related commitments.
Please read below for a little about Fr. Richter:
Praise the Lord! I am grateful for and excited about the opportunity to begin teaching Personal Morality at St. Catherine’s High School this semester. Catholic education has long been part of my life, as I attended Catholic school through eighth grade in my hometown of Waukesha, Wisconsin. In May 2024, I was ordained a priest, and in June 2024, I began here in Racine as the associate pastor of eight parishes (St. Lucy, St. Sebastian, St. Edward, St. Richard, St. Patrick, St. Joseph, St. John Nepomuk, Sacred Heart) where I have been blessed to be involved with our Siena Catholic Schools, including St. Catherine’s. Before entering seminary in 2018, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Accounting, Finance, and Spanish and then worked in business strategy for five years. I look forward to serving our students in this capacity, and hope to encourage them in the words of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, "Do not be afraid of Christ! He takes nothing away, and he gives you everything." -Pope Benedict XVI.

I want to address an observed increase in student cell phone use during school hours. I have personally viewed tik toks and other videos taken, especially in our bathrooms. This morning, I personally checked all student phones and there were 108 violations. This is unacceptable.
I recognize that cell phones are a vital part of modern life, but their use during the school day can significantly disrupt the learning environment and interfere with student focus. To ensure all students can engage fully in their education, we need to reaffirm and strictly enforce our existing policy regarding electronic devices.
SCHS Policy, pg 23
Cell phones/ Smart/ Apple Watches may not be used during school hours and must be locked in their Yondr pouch upon entering the school building. Students are required to bring their Yondr Pouch every day.
As they enter in the morning, they will show administration their yondr and that the pouch is working. If they do not have their Yondr, they will write their name down and after 5 days of not having a Yondr, they will receive a detention. Their phone will be kept in the office and after 5 times this will become a detention. The cell phone has to be picked up by a parent or guardian.
Lost, damaged or stolen Yondr pouches:
● Students are responsible for lost or damaged pouches. Consequence will be consistent with damaging school property and a fee of $30.
Pouch Expectations:
● Phones should be TURNED OFF before pouched. This saves battery life
● DO NOT pull, pry, or damage the Pouch in any way.
● Pouches will be checked throughout the school year by Administration. If it is broken, it will be confiscated and the student will need to pay for a replacement pouch.
● Your Pouch is student responsibility at all times.
If a phone is confiscated during the day by a staff member, it will be in the office and the parent has to pick it up. After five times, this is a detention. I ask that you please discuss this policy and its consequences with your student immediately. Your support at home is crucial to maintaining a focused and effective learning environment for everyone. Thank you for your partnership in ensuring our school remains a place dedicated to academic excellence.
If you have any questions regarding the Yondr Pouch or the policy, please feel free to contact the school office.
Over the past few weeks, we have had incidents at our home athletic events in which students and young people NOT affiliated with SCHS or the visiting team purchased tickets with the intent to create problems at the game. In an effort to keep our students, families, alumni, and the visiting team safe, the following changes are being made effective immediately:
Only high school students with a school ID (current year) from St. Catherine’s or visiting team will be allowed entry. There will be no exceptions.
Students from a Siena Catholic School are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. If the parent/guardian leaves the premises, the child(ren) must go, too.
Any child under 13 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. If the parent/guardian leaves the premises, the child(ren) must go, too.
Family members of student-athletes, alumni, and adults are welcome to attend.
Gameday staff will use discretion when selling tickets at the gate.
Gameday staff have the right to refuse entry to anyone who has purchased a ticket at the gate or online.
Tickets purchased online are nonrefundable. The rules stated above are also stated online at Hometown Ticketing. Any person who looks to be high school-aged and doesn’t have a valid student ID will not be permitted entry and will not get a refund.
All of the above will be communicated to visiting teams in advance to limit the number of students who are not allowed entry.
Gates Close at 7:30pm. There will be no entry allowed after.
In addition to the presence of the Racine Police Department and St. Catherine’s High School staff at home games, we ask for the assistance of our entire community when attending events. If you notice any concerning behavior, please notify the gameday staff or an RPD officer immediately.
Thank you for your continued support of the Angels!

Grade level retreats provide significant benefits for high school students. Retreats emphasize spiritual growth and personal development, preparing students to become good, moral, and ethical individuals. Through the 4 Dominican Pillars of Community, Prayer, Study, and Service/Mission we deepen our personal relationship with God. They are much more than just a fun day away from school, they help us reflect on our lives and push us to be better people. We are all looking forward to the retreats this year and hope they are a good experience for all.
Our First retreat for the Seniors is taking place October 23, 2025
Our Second retreat for the Freshmen is taking place October 31, 2025.
Please complete the retreat permission slips in PowerSchool - Parent Portal. OR, you may contact the main office also.
