College and Career Advising
Working together to find the best fit for our students' educational plans beyond Shrine
All students will need post-secondary education or training. We have a highly individualized approach to helping our students identify their strengths, talents, and interests and how those traits align with potential careers and universities programs. Without forcing students to know what they want to do with the rest of their lives at the age of 18, we encourage students to establish personal criteria for what is important in their post secondary educational plans. There is no "best college" but there are definitely schools and programs that offer a best fit for our students.
Highlights:
We have a dedicated counselor whose sole responsibility is to provide guidance with career and college counseling which allows for a very individualized process.
Our acceptance rates to many universities far exceeds their published national acceptance rates due to the strength of our curriculum, the personalized nature of our letters of recommendation, the extensive and well rounded resumes of our students, and the higher education connections forged over twenty years of experience.
Each fall we will host 60 College Admissions Counselors who are the primary readers for Shrine's applications to visit with our students as well as offer On-Site Application reviews for several in state universities.
We start discussing life after Shrine during the first quarter of the Freshman year and offer unique curriculum each year to advance student's ability to discern potential career interests and individualized criteria for college choices
We actively promote experiential learning through job shadowing opportunities which distinguish our students in the applicant pools while giving them first hand knowledge of a career.
