Storeage!

Make sure you have enough space on your hard drive when you start your project. If you are on a university computer/account then use the X Drive! This should have been allocated to you at the start of the project and will give you 50GB of space rather than your standard 10GB of your normal UDrive! If you run out of space you will create some real problems with your project.

Be Organised!

It is really important that you know where all your files are. Don’t rely on them being on a memory card because it is likely you’ll forget and then format that card and lose everything. Create folders for your appropriate media and your project. That way everything is all in one place. And if it’s a big project and you're worried about it, make a backup of the media (as a minimum) and project when you can.

Unlinking Audio/Videos

Sometimes you might want just the audio or video from your clip. To do this simply right click on the media and select Unlink. Now you have two separate tracks, be careful though if you move the video and not the audio together it may become unsynced.

Relinking offline clips

If your media goes offline it can mean a file has been moved or deleted. It is likely you had clips on a USB/SD Card and haven't plugged it in when you opened your project back up/or you've taken it out.

To fix:

Click the Locate button to use the Media Browser interface to locate, preview, and select a media file. Other offline clips are relinked automatically when the first media file is found.
