POSITION OF YOUR MICROPHONE

If you are using a microphone, make sure it is pointing towards where the source of the audio is.

When recording speech, plug your headphones into the device to use the in-built microphone. This will help improve the quality of your audio.

REDUCE DISTRACTIONS

Avoid typing on your keyboard, clicking your mouse - touching your computer in general whilst recording. These noises will sound particularly loud and are distracting to listeners.

USE A BLANKET!

Recording under a blanket with your microphone can improve the quality of your audio! This is because the blanket reduces reverberation from your surroundings.

Microphone Distance

A good rule of thumb is to be around 6-12 inches away from the microphone when speaking.

Switch off any appliances you don't need whilst recording to reduce background noise. E.g. Computer hum, electric fan.
