Meet the coaches

Coach Coop  (Boys Track and Field)

Coach Coop graduated from Merritt Island High School in 2017. He attended Columbia University and earned his bachelor's degree in political science while playing football for the Lions. Coach Coop has been teaching at Merritt Island High School since 2022, while also coaching varsity football as a defensive assistant. Coach Coop is an avid outdoorsman, and enjoys spending his free time fishing, hunting, surfing, and spending time with friends and family. Coach Coop's mission is to be a positive influence in the lives of student-athletes and to help teach them the soft skills necessary to be successful not only in athletics and in the classroom, but to be successful in life. His goal is to help every student athlete who desires to compete at the college level to receive an opportunity to do so. He has been coaching at MIHS since April 2022.

Coach Kevin (Girls Track and Field)

Once a Mustang, always a Mustang. Coach Kevin is proud to return to MIHS where he ran Cross Country and Track & Field. After graduating from MIHS in 2006, he earned a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from the University of Central Florida, and he now works for Leidos supporting NASA. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, running, and traveling. Coach Kevin’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of his athletes by giving them the opportunity to reach their potential on and off the field. He has been coaching at MIHS since January 2019.
