This decade had 7 individual state champions and 2 team state champions.
1990-91
The 16-4-1 boys soccer team (Coach Buren), won the Cape Coast Conference, and the team was led by Ruben Garcia, Keith Holroyd, Kamran Sarkarati, Dan Sweeney, Steve Wietgrefe and Dan Neal.

1991-92
The 6-6 football team (Coach Odom) won the district, and the team advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs.
The football team was led by Aaron Jones, Jimmy Love, Cedric Cliatt, Rob Chmielewski, Bubba Shipley, Tray Faine, and Matt McNeely.
The 17-6-1 girls soccer team (Coach Freeman) won the Cape Coast Conference, and the team was led by Amy Chocolaad, Leslie MacLean, Jennifer Hodgkins, and Jean Zabin.
The 20-3-3 boys soccer team (Coach Buren), won the Cape Coast and District Championship and advanced to the first round of the playoff.
The boys soccer team was led by Erick Garcia, Kamran Sarkarati, Keith Holroyd, Dan Neal, and Dan Sweeney, and Ricky Bleichner.

1992-93
The 9-2 football team (Coach Odom) won the district, and the team advanced to the playoffs.
The football team was led by John Allison, Craig Drabyk, Jason Guilford, Derrick Ham, Jeff Hughes, Kelly Keegan, Bryan Kewley, and Nate Trout.
The 9-10-2 girls soccer team (Coach Freeman) won the District Championship, and the team was led by Stephanie Johnson and Christie Lawlor.
The 15-7-2 boys soccer team (Coach Buren), won the District Championship and advanced to the first round of the playoff.
The boys soccer team was led by Kevin Ferrie, Ruben Garcia, K.C. Easterly, Jason Cope, and Ricky Bleichner.
1993-94
MAJOR CHANGE: FHSAA will allow the District Champion and District Runner up will be advancing to the playoffs.
The 8-2 football team (Coach Odom) advances to the playoffs placing 2nd in the district, but the team lost a close game in the first round of the playoffs.
The football team was led by Joey Bachstein, Mike Burroughs, Craig Drabyk, Rocky Gilmore, Derrick Hame, Sean Peach, Nate Trout, and Kevin Wood
During the pep rally, the sign "You are entering the O-Dome" was presented to Coach Odom.
1994-95
MAJOR CHANGE: Jeff McClain was appointed to the new athletic director of Merritt Island High School.
MAJOR CHANGE: A special sign was made "You are entering the O-Dome" for Coach Odom, and the sign is part of MIHS Stadium,
The 11-3 football team (Coach Odom) won the District Championship, and advanced to the semi-final game where the mustangs came up short.
The football team was led by Mike Carney, Joey Bachstein, Josh Anderson, Torre Smith, Birian Jacobs, Nate Trout, Dan Daniels, David Wilson, Mike Spencer, Russ Sinclair, Josh Anderson, and Jason Muchow.
Coach Odom, thank you for everything you did for Merritt Island High School.
1995-96
MAJOR CHANGE: Coach Odom steps down as head coach. Starting in 1967 as a defensive coordinator, and took over as head coach in 1973. He finished with the highest winning percentage in school's history, and he won 3 state title (2 head coach/1 defensive coordinator). Thank you Coach Odom for all the student athletes you helped over the years.
The 7-4 football team (Coach Hodgin) advanced to the playoffs.
The football team was led by Jason Muchow, Joe Rossi, Ahmed El-Hawary, and Brian Pastermack.
1996-97
The 11-2 football team (Coach Hodgin) won the district, and the team advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs.
The football team was led by Brian Pastermack, Randy Arias, Chris Colella, Chris Brown, Joe Rossi, Peter Irby, Mike LaMaster, Ahmed El-Hawary, Dan Chamberlain, Jeff Miller, and Wesley McNeely.
The baseball team (Coach Goldfarb) won the District title, and the team advanced to the Regional Final (3rd round).
May 16, 1998 from Florida Today, Shawntel "Peaches" Williams wins the state championship in the triple jump and 100 hurdles.
1997-98
The 11-2 football team (Coach Hodgin) won the district, and the team advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs.
The football team was led by Javier Beorlegui, Hugh Smith, Adam Quinones, Jeff Miller, Kevin Verpaele, Dan Chamberlain, and Wesley McNeely.
The 26-7 baseball team (Coach Goldfarb), won the District title, and the team advanced to the Regional Final (3rd Round) to lose to the eventual state champions.

1998-99
The 8-3 football team (Coach Hodgin) made the playoffs.
The football team was led by Kevin Verpaele, Jerrod Moffitt, Bryce Harrigton, Trevor Hitt, Stephen Walker, Ehren Ullein, Chris Vanderbrink, Ryan Koslosky, Donte Griffin, Dave Sanger, Terrance Griffin, and Kevin Deaton.
The 31-4 baseball team (Coach Goldfarb) won the District title, and advanced to win a state championship.
From the Florida Today, MIHS scores 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to repeat as state champions.
1999-00
The 7-5 football team (Coach Hodgin) finished 2nd in the district, and the team advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs.
The wrestling team sent the following wrestlers to the state meet: Chris Murry (103), Tommy Varvolo (125), and Gio Valazquez (152)
The 30-4 baseball team (Coach Goldfarb) won the district title, and advanced in to playoffs to repeat as the state championship.
