In this decade, we had 12 individual state championships.
Paul Winston finishes his distinguished wrestling career with a 2nd place finish in the State wrestling meet.
Glen Gorton had a fantastic year in cross country and track, finishing 2nd in the 2 mile.
Flo McDonald dominated her events in track and field.
The football team, led by captain Joe Kohlbrand, finished with a 8-2 record.
The 8-2 football team always played tough competition, and their 30 game undefeated streak came to an end along with their 5 year playoff appearance streak.
Tony Hensley and Joe Kohlbrand earned All-State honors in football.
Boys and girls cross country had a solid season, and the boys team won district and state team qualifying spot, and Flo McDonald qualified for the girls as an individual.
In the state cross country meet, the boys team, led by Glen Gorton (7th) and Scott Taylor (4th), earned a 7th place team finish.
Wrestling had a successful year sending Danny Hess (189), Paul Winston (123), Marshal Irby (159), and Lee Winn (Hvy) to the state championships.
At the wrestling state meet, Paul finished 2nd (Finishing his career 96-3-2), Marshall finished 3rd, and the team finished 6th.
Head coach, Matt Thomson, took over the first boys soccer program.
The boys golf team standout was Scott Gump.
The baseball standouts were Larry Gast (6-2/1.45 ERA) and Greg Reasoner (.339 BA/11 RBI).
Track and field sent the following athletes to the state meet: Tony Hensley, James Ham, Scott Taylor, Glen Gorton, and for the girls Flo McDonald.
The boys team finished 9th in the state meet with 2nd place Tony Hensley in the discus, and Glen Gorton 2nd in the mile (4:12) and 6th in the 2 mile. Flo McDonald had a 4th place finish in the 880 (2:20).
Swimming sent the following to the state meet boys 200 medley relay, Wendi Slip, Louise Hull (7th in 200 free/5th in 500 free), Sean Anderson, Kevin Norveske, and Richard Sumrall (7th in 100 Breast with 1:02).

Jeff Wickersham finished his career as a Parade All-American.
Richard Sumrall a dominate swimmer, and finished second in 100 breast with a school record that would not be broken until 2023.
The football team had another successful year with a 8-2 record.
Jeff Wickersham and Richard Sheets earned All-State honors.
Jeff Wickersham earned the Parade All-American status for being one of the 6th best quarter backs in the nation.
The volleyball started off slow, but finished strong by finishing 2nd in the district.
Cross country sent two individuals to the state meet: Scott Taylor (16th with 15:21) and Flo McDonald (7th with 11:47).
Wrestling had Ed Carillion, Charles Hamilton, and Marc Herman named as part of the All Cape Coast team, and sent 11 wrestlers to regionals.
The 22-8 boys basketball (Coach Light) team had very successful team led by Mark Norris, Jeff Wickersham, and Will Purdue, and the team finished 2nd in the district.
Coach Haskell Light was named All-Space Coast coach of the year.
Will Purdue was selected as an all-state, the first in basketball history.
Baseball was 16-4 in the conference, and won the district championship led by David Dewitt, Todd Chaffins, Ron Dulay, Darrell Gast, Tito Bascombe, and Gary Osborne (11 wins/1.29 ERA/117K in 81 innings).
Boys Tennis, Joe Perry qualified for state by winning the number 1 singles district title, and Joe Perry-Mark McCalman won the number 1 doubles district crown.
The swim team sent Barbara Schnobel (100 breast), Louise Hall (200 free/500 free), girls medley relay, Richard Sumrall ( 100 free/100 breast/2nd in state), and Marshall Riley (200 free/500 free)
Track and field send Flo McDonald (880/Mile/5:09) who got 2nd in the 880, Scott Taylor (2mile/9:23/4th) and James Ham to the state meet.
James Ham won the Cape Coast, District, Region, and State championship in the Shot Put.
Future NBA star with Chicago Bulls, Will Perdue, helped lead MI boys basketball to one of their greatest seasons.
Joe Perry was a dominate tennis player finishing with a career record of 70-4.
Darrell Gast, in the picture, was an all-state football player along with teammate Scott Lang.
MAJOR CHANGE: MIHS had a new principal, Hank Smith.
Two notable hires on the football team, Ken Winn (the future principal of Edgewood) and Jeff McLean (MIHS future Athletic Director).
The 7-2 football team (Coach Odom) tied Vero Beach and Satellite for the district, but lost in a Kansas City style playoff in a triple overtime loss.
Scott Lang and Darrell Gast earned All-State honors for football.
The 8-6 volleyball team (Coach Walden) was led by Karen Hauer, Tamara Farnsworth, Mona Davis, Wanda Lyons, and Kim Buck.
The standout cross country runners were Zane Thomlinson (16:00) and Thea Chanley (11:52).
Swimming (Coach Capper) sent Tom Mason and Anthony Wash for the boys, and the girls had Dee Ann Benoist placing 4th in the 100 back (1:01.8) and 2nd in the 200 IM (2:06.65).
Boys basketball (Coach Haskell) had a 22-7 record led by Will Perdue, Bubba McDowell, and Eric Ham, but got 2nd place in the District championships.
Will Perdue finished at All-Space Coast player of the year for basketball by averaging 30 points and 19 rebounds a game.
The boys soccer team (Coach McGough) posted their first winning record of 11-9, which was led by David Hoard, Barry Beck, and Reggie Moore.
The 16-6 baseball team (Coach Hodgin), led by Gary Osborne, David Dewitt, Darrell Gast (Consider the best catcher for throwing runners out), and Jimmy Rollen, finished 2nd in district.
In boys tennis (Coach Rocco), Joey Perry continued to dominate, but struggled in the state series due to injuries.
Joe Perry finished his high school career as All-Space Coast and 70-4 record.
Track and field (Coach Kent) sent John Brown in the half-mile, Ann Kniedler in the quarter-mile, and Stacey Price in the shot put (8th) for the state meet.
The girls swim team finished 8th in the state.
The football team advanced to the quarter finals.
Eric Ham was the mustangs top running back, but also excelled in basketball and track.
The football team (Coach Odom) went 6-4 under a very tough schedule, and the mustangs went on to be District champions.
Football team was led by Eric Ham, Bubba McDowell, Tony Smith, Rob Nurnburg, Andy Toth, and Gary Osborne.
The football team did well in the playoffs winning their first game against John Leonard and losing a close quarterfinal game to Winter Park.
Significant fact, Coach Odom won his 100th football game when the mustangs beat district opponent Martin County.
The cross country standout was Bobby Quaid (16:19).
Volleyball (Coach Walden) was 7-3 in the Cape Coast finishing 2nd in district, and the team led by Kim Buck, Nancy Aguimaga, and Wanda Lyons.
The girls (Coach Capper) swim team sent De Anne Benoist, Linda Howard, Kelly Cramer, and Pam Smith to the state meet.
At the state swim meet, the girls finished 8th led by Pam Smith 8th in 200 free (1:59.6) and 6th in 500 free (5:06.3), and De Anne Benoist with 2nd in 200 IM and 3rd in 100 back (1:00.4).
Wrestling (Coach Green) sent Mark Lang (142) 21-2 record, Fred Burkholder (189) with a 21-2 record, and Mike Middleton (234) to the state meet.
The 16-13 boys basketball (Coach Light) showed promise, and the team was led by Ken Stamper, Eric Ham, and Bubba McDowell.
The 17-7 boys soccer (Coach McGough) won a share of the Cape Coast while winning the District title, and the team was led by David Hoard, Eddie Raleigh, George Pinkerton, Kendall Rigdon, and goalie Justin Bryant.
Coach McGough won All-Space Coast coach of the year for soccer.
Boys golf standout was Greg Crutchfield with 38.8 avg.
At the state meet, boys track (Coach McLean) had Andy Toth finish 8th in Pole Vault, Eric Ham 200 (21.9), and the 4X440 finishing 4th.
Girls track (Coach Kent) won the District championship led by sprinter Loren Edwards (11.4 100/17'6" LJ), and the 4x440 finished 7th in state.
The 20-8 softball finished 2nd in district led by Tami Sloan, Mona Davis, and Susan Stahley.
The 25-4 baseball team won the Cape Coast and District championships led by Gary Osborne (12-1/1.80 ERA/.378 BA), Greg Jennings, Mike Stevanus( .395 BA/21SB), and Mike Stemwedel (.393BA/.598 OBP_.
Wrestling would dominate for the sport for the next three years, led by Coach Toby McCormick (third row, last from the left) . In the second row, the second from the left is State Champion Solomon Fleckman, and forth from the left is State Champion Tony McCormick. The team finished 4th in the State Meet.

Longtime football coach, eventual head football coach, also coached baseball, and was named area coach of the year for back-to-back Cape Coast titles.
MAJOR NEWS; the FHSAA announced changes to the classifications, keeping MIHS in the large schools. However, the FHSAA moved MIHS and Vero into Orlando for district play. Removing the required football games like Melbourne, Satellite, Titusville, and Eau Gallie.
The 7-3 football team (Coach Odom) had a strong season for a tie for the District Championship, but the team lost the tiebreaker to Satellite in the Kansas City style tie-breaker.
The football team was led by Dean Sawyer, Wade Schell, and Steve Solid.
The girls swim team (First year coach Hughes) won the Cape Coast Conference and District Championship, and Deanna Benoit, Lyda Howard, Kelly Conley, and Pam Smith
At the swim state meet, 200 medley relay finished 4th, Deanne Benoit finished in 200 medley, and Pam Smith finished 6th 500 freestyle.

The 14-4 Volleyball (Coach Walden) team led by Wanda Lyons, Nancy Aguiaga, and Maria McMullin and the team finished 2nd in districts.
The boys basketball standouts were Ricky Hunter, Dean Walsh, and Anthony Session.
The11-5 boys soccer (first year coach Garcia) team was led by Barry Beck, Mike Kler, Rob Blum, and Scott Carswell, and the team finished 2nd in the district.
Wrestling (First-year coach Toby McCormick) sent four wrestlers to the state meet, including Mike Middleton and Neal Goldman.
Solomon Fleckman (23-0) and Tony McCormick (22-0) won a State championship at the wrestling state meet.
The wrestling team won the Cape Coast and District championship, 2nd in Regionals, and 4th at State meet.
The 25-7 baseball team (Coach Hodgin) won the Cape Coast and District Championship, and the team was led by Steve Scott, Reggie Moore, Mike Neal, Bob Wydra, and Rob Smithwick.
Coach Hodgin was named All-Space Coast coach of the year, and Steve Scott was name All-Space Coast baseball player of the year with a 13-3 record and 2.13 ERA with an .409 BA.
20-3 softball team (Coach Winn) won the Cape Coast and District Championship, and the team was led by Susan Stahley ( .502 BA) , Corrie Hintz (.588 BA), Peggy Lane (20-3 record), and Terri Lane (.488 BA) .
Coach Ken Winn was named All-Space Coast coach of the year.
The track team (Coach McLean and Coach Pribil) saw some success where the girls team won the District Championship, and the state qualifiers were Wayne Ostrowsky in the shot put (8th/54'1") and Michelle Portella in the discuss throw (4th/111'5").
Solomon and Tony both won the state championship in wrestling for the 2nd year in a row.
The soccer team made it to the final 4, the first soccer team to make it to the final 4 in Brevard County.
One of the great female athletes, Sandra Locklear led MIHS in scoring in basketball and batting average in softball.
FHSAA CHANGE: In basketball, the second place team in district now can play in playoffs.

The football team was led by Gene Herring, Jim Humburg, Randy Rigdon, Hurlie Brown, Jerry Odom, and Phil Odom.
The 16-5 volleyball team (Coach Walden) won their first District Championship advancing to the first round of the playoffs., and the team was led by Carol Cupac, Peggy Lane, and Michelle Porter.
This was the volleyball's first appearance in the regional playoffs in school history.
The boys cross country team advanced into the regional cross country meet led by Aaron Blawn.
The girls swim team (Coach Hughes) sent Charlie Swain (200 Free/500Free) placing and 400 Freestyle Relay to the state meet.
Charlie Swain placed 6th in the 500 Freestyle (5:09.2).
The wrestling team (Coach McCormick) sent the following wrestlers to state: Richard Jones, Kevin Smith, Eric Anderson, Wylie Welch, Buford Scott, Mike Burch, Solomon Fleckman, and Tony McCormick.
At the state wrestling meet, both Solomon Fleckman (30-1) and Tony McCormick (Finished career with 61 strait victories) won the state championship, and the placers were Richard Jones (2nd/26-3-2) and Wylie Welch (4th/28-6), as the team finished 2nd in state (still to this day the highest wrestling finish in school history).
The 16-8 girls basketball team (Coach Winn) place 2nd in district and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.
The girls basketball team was led by Dee Williams, Susan Stahley (13.3 ppg), Sandra Locklear (15.1 ppg), and Carol Cupec.
The 21-12 boys basketball team (Coach Light) advanced to the playoffs by placing 2nd in district, and the team was led by Ricky Hunter (18.4 ppg), Garrett Thompson, Dereck Brown, Hurlie Brown, and Jim Humburg.
The 13-6-3 boys soccer (Coach Garcia) won the District Championship advancing to the Final 4, and the team was led by Scott Carswell, Mike Kler, and Rob Blum.
The boys soccer team was the first Brevard County soccer program to advance to the final 4.
The 19-8 baseball team (Coach Hodgins) won the Cape Coast, but ended the season with a 2nd place finish in district play.
The baseball team was led by Tom Finney, Tom Butler, Carl Hanselman, Billy Blevins (.329 avg with 39 sb), Randy Rigdon, Daryl Spencer, and Nick Davis.
The 18-5 softball team (Coach Winn) won the Cape Coast, but ended the season with a 2nd place finish in district play.
The softball team was led by Peggy Lane (16-2 record), Sandra Locklear (.614 avg) , Susan Stahley (.537 avg), Holly Floyd (.548 avg), and Carole Cupec.
Track and Field (Coach McLean and Coach Pribil) sent Aaron Blawn (880), Loren Edwards (LJ), Michelle Portera (DT/125'), and Garratt Thompson (HJ) to the state meet.
At the state track meet, Loren finished 5th, Aaron finished 6th (1:57.2), and Garrett finished 6th (6'8").

Coach Winn earned several All-Space Coast coach of years in softball, and he built winning programs in girls softball.
The 9-1 football team (Coach Odom) may be considered one of the greatest team's that did not make the playoffs, and one point was ranked #22 in the nation.
In an era where only the district champion makes the playoffs, the football team lost in double overtime to Vero Beach, who was ranked 2nd in the state, for the district championship.
The football team was led by Derek Brown, Mike Boring, Mark Boring, Cal Dixon, Joe Price, Glenn Ford, Eric Buckley, Jerry Odom, and Hurlie Brown.
Jerry Odom was named All-Space Coast player of the year, and he was named an All-American.
The 18-1 volleyball team (Coach Walden) won the Cape Coast and District Championship, and the team was led by Tina Newman, Trina Skinner, Michelle Byrd, Kelly Shotwell, and Sandra Locklear.
Coach Betty Walden won Space Coast coach of the year and Sandra Locklear won All-Space Coast player of the year.
The boys cross country team (Coach Barbour) advanced to the regional, and the team was led by Jason Maipass, David Dickgraber, and Wylie Welsch.
The girls cross country team (Coach Barbour) advanced to the regionals, and the team was led by Kathy Mayhew, Theresa Gould, and Sylvia Gould.
The boys swim team (Coach Hughes) won the Cape Coast Championship, and the team was led by state qualifiers James Pait (50 Free/100 Free), Ed Daily (100 Fly 6th/200 IM 6th), Peter Van Meter, John Goodrich, Richard Barrett, and Jon Brater.

The girls swim team was led by state qualifier Charlie Swain (500 Free/8th) and Brandi Bryan.
The 9-3 girls soccer season (Coach Harry Carswell) played in their first season, and the team was led by Theresa Gould and Julie Maples.
The 15-3-3 boys soccer team (Coach Garcia) finished 2nd in district, and the team was led by Sean Armstrong (26 goals), David Meacham, and David Dimoush.
The 11-14 boys basketball (Coach Light) upset Vero Beach to win the District Championship to advance to the first round of the playoffs, and the team was led by Derreck Brown.
The 23-7 girls basketball team (Coach Winn) won the District Championship, and the team advanced to the 2nd round (sectional final).
The girls basketball team was led by Sandra Locklear (20 ppg), Trina Skinner, Kelly Shotwell, and Dee Williams.
The wrestling team (Coach McCormick) won the Cape Coast and District Championship, and the team finished 4th at the state meet.
At the wrestling state meet, Richard Jones and Solomon Fleckman won state titles, and Mike Mandese (98), Wylie Welch (126), Greg Gough (138) and Dan McNeil (185) qualified for the state meet.
The track team was led by individual Cape Coast conference winner Steve Fisher for 330 hurdles.
The baseball team (Coach Hodgin) was led by Carl Hanselman (3 no-hitters), Andy Williams, Darryl Spencer, and Rob Blaue.
The 22-2 softball team (Coach Winn) won District and the Cape Coast Titles, and the team advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs.
The softball team was led by Kelley Shotwell, Dee Williams, Karen Locklear, and Sandra Locklear.

The 30-4 volleyball team (Coach Walden) won the Cape Coast and District championships, and advanced to the sectional finals losing a close game to Lake Brantley.
The volleyball team was led by Lise Lewis, Michelle Byrd, and Trina Skinner.
The boys cross country (Coach Barbour) team qualified for the regional meet, and were led by Jim Sheridan, David Dickgraber, and Jason Malpass.
The 9-1 boys swim team (Coach Hughes) won the Cape Coast and District championship, and the state qualifiers were 200 medley relay, Ed Dailey (100 butterfly/200 IM) John Goodrich (100 fly/200 free), and Pat Van Meter (200 free/500 free).
The 10-0 girls swim team (Coach Hughes) won the Cape Coast and District championship, and the state qualifiers were 400 freestyle relay, Cherie Swain (200 free/500 free), Brandi Bryan (100 free/200 free) and Kristen Totman (500 free).
At the state swim meet, Ed Daily placed 8th 200 relay( Dailey, Jon Brater, Goodrich, and Van Meter), 2nd 200 medley, and 3rd in the 100 fly.

The girls basketball team was led by Kelly Shotwell and Lise Lewis.
The 9-6 girls soccer team(Coach Carswell) had another strong season, and the team was led by Jill Martin and Tina Newman.
The 11-10-1 boys soccer team (Coach Garcia) won the District Championship and first round of the playoffs, and the boys were led by Sean Carswell, Lance Rodriguez, Mike Starkey, Tom Wren, and Jeff Yost.
The wrestling team (Coach McCormick) won the Cape Coast and District Championship.
At the wrestling state meet; Kevin McClue (130) and Spencer Yates (152), and Guy Gatti (145) placed 3rd in the state with a 30-1 record.
Guy Gatti did win All-Space Coast wrestler of the year.
The 22-4 softball team (Coach John Staples) won the Cape Coast and District championship to advance to the first round of the playoffs.
The softball team was led by Kelly Shotwell (22-4 with .467 BA), Megan Ferie, Tonia Hamilton, Tina Newman (.500 BA) Trina Skinner, and Karen Locklear (.531 BA with 6 HR) .
The boys track (Coach Pribil) finished 2nd in district, and Robert Knuutia qualified for the state meet.
The girls track team (Coach McLean) finished third in district, and Carolyn Davis finished 6th in the state meet.
The 28-4 baseball team (Coach Hodge) won the Cape Coast, District and Regional championship earning a spot in the final four.
The baseball team was led by Joel Stevens (9-0 with .40 ERA and 115 K), Darryl Spencer (.352 BA and .626 OBP), Jim Bachstein, Nick Davis (.337 ba with 33 RBI), Dan Mayer, Charles Dwyer (.419 ba with 33 RBI), and Carl Hanselman (9-3 with 1.36 ERA).

Ed Daily won the state championship in the 100 Fly and the 200 Individual Medley, and he was part of the 200 Relay state champion team.

Mike Pina was a standout football player that also finished 2nd in the state for track.
The 7-3 football team (Coach Odom) forced a 3-way tie for the district (loss in Kansas City format). , and the team was led by Mike Pena, Travers Johnson, John Hunter, Darryle Broadnax, Damon Kessler, Anthony Middleton, Robert Knuutila, Richie Osteen, Time Davis, Nand Jason Fisher.
The 15-13 volleyball team (Coach Walden) finished 2nd in district, and the team was led by Denise Lewis and Taniya Hamilton.
The boys cross country team (Coach Barbour) had Jason Malpass (16:09) qualify for the state meet.
The 10-0 boys swim team (Coach Hughes) won the Cape Coast Championship.
The 10-0 girls swim team (Coach Hughes) won the Cape Coast Championship.
The qualifiers for the swim team were the boys 200 IM, Ed Daily, Pat Van Meter, John Goodrich, Danny Valdes, and Kristen Totman.
Kristen Totman finished 8th in the 500 free.
Ed Daily won the state championship in 100 fly (50.05) and 200 individual medley (1:52.33), and the 200 Medley (Daily, Van Meter, Goodrich, and Valdes) relay won the championship. Danny Valdes was 5th in the 200 IM. John Goodrich was 6th in the 50 free (22.05). Peter Van Meter was 6th in 200 free (1:44.48). The boys team finished 2nd in the state.
Once again, Mo Hughes was name All-Space Coast coach of the year.
The 12-12 girls basketball (Coach Staples) finished 2nd in the district, and the team was led by Karen Locklear, Amy Honeycutt, and Kris Seitz.
The 16-8 boys basketball team (Coach Light) had a strong year, and the team was led by Derrick O'Neil, Harvey Jordan, Tony Hurt, and Marcus Bailey.
The 8-4 wrestling team (Coach Bentivegna) sent Jerry Sapp (189), Pete Passaro (112), and Chris O'Connell (140) to the state meet.
At the state wrestling meet, Jerry Sapp finished 2nd and Chris O'Connell finished 4th.
The 12-4-3 boys soccer team (First-year, Coach Bill Buren), won the District Championship and first round of the playoffs, and the team was led by Shawn Ferry, Denis Kler, David Sarkarati, and Dacks Rodriguez (11 goals).
The 11-7-1 girls soccer team (Coach Carswell) finished 2nd in the district, and the team was led by Kim Carswell and Christa Hayes.
22-10 baseball team (Coach Hodgins) finished 2nd in the district, and the team was led by Charles Dwyer (.373 avg), Dacks Rodriguez, Joel Stephens (9-3 with 1.47 ERA), and Rob Bruckner.
The boys track team (Coach Pribil) finished 2nd in the Cape Coast and District, and Bill Berry (100), Mike Pina (120 HH), and Damon Kessler (DT) qualified for the state meet.
At the state track meet, Mike Pina placed 2nd in the state in 120 Hurdles (14.0), and Bill Berry qualified for the 100.

Coach Harry Carswell helped start girls soccer at MIHS earned All-Space Coast coach of the year.
MAJOR CHANGE: FHSAA moved Merritt Island from 5A to 4A in football, and as result we played many of our old traditional rivals from the 60s.
The 11-3 football team (Coach Odom) won the District Championship, and the team advance to the state championship game for state runner-up.
The football team was lead by Tray Faine, Jay Penn, Tom McCann, Doug McCarty, Mallory Graham, and, Roddie Smith
The 21-12 volleyball team (Coach Walden) won the Cape Coast (Co Champs) and District championship, and the team made it to the first round of the playoffs.
The volleyball team was led by Debbie Grove, Denise Hughes, and Tonya Hamilton.
The girls swim team (Coach Hughes) won the Cape Coast and finished 3rd in district, and the state qualifiers were Gabriela Gaja (100 Fly/200IM) finishing 2nd both ,and 400 freestyle relay finished 5th.
The boys swim team (Coach Hughes) won the Cape Coast and finished 2nd in the district, and the state qualifier was Danny Valdes in the 200 IM and 100 Fly, and 200 IM (8th). David Espinosa finished 8th in 100 back.
Coach Mo Hughes was All-Space Coast coach of the year, and Danny Valdes was All-Space Coast swimmer of the year.
The wresting team advanced Matt Freitag (152) to the state meet.
At the state swim meet, Danny Valdes won the state championship in the 100 fly earning All-American honors, and Gabriele Gaja finished 2nd in 100 fly and 200 IM at the state meet. Both the boys and girls teams finished 8th in the state.
The 19-3-2 boys soccer team (Coach Buren), won the Cape Coast, District Championship and first round of the playoffs, and the team was led by, Dan Sweeney, Shawn Ferry and David Sarkarati.
The 20-1 girls soccer team (Coach Carswell) won the Cape Coast Conference and District Championship, and the team was led by Maureen Soleil (37 goals) Megan Ferrie (27 goals) and Rina Borresen (16 assists/1st team All State) and Ina Rognaldsen.
Coach Harry Carswell earned All-Space Coast coach of the year, and Maureen Soleil earn All-Space Coast player of the year.
The girls golf team qualified for districts, and the team was led by Cheryl Alderman, Bridget Yost, Kelli Byrd, and Sandy Cohen.
The boys golf team qualified Mark Coffey for districts.
The softball standout was Tonya Hamilton (.410 avg)
The boys track team finished 2nd district, and the state qualifiers were Bill Barry (100, 200, and 4x100), Vince Dillard (Shot), and Marcus Bailey (LJ)
In the state track and field meet, Marcus Bailey won the State Championship in the long jump (24'11", and Bill Barry finished 4th in the 100 (10.58 FAT).
