Fortnightly on Wednesday Period 5, you will have a period of Enrichment on your timetable. You can choose which activities you would like to take part in during these times and we will hold a 'Freshers' Fair' during September where you will get to sign up to do something outside of your academic subject areas which you enjoy.
In the Sixth Form, we encourage and support participation in sport and regular fixtures. We organise teams in football, rugby, netball, and basketball but also allow students to take part in these sports during Enrichment time for fun and exercise. The Sports Centre is generally available for students' use on Wednesday afternoons when experienced and qualified staff are in attendance to help with use of the Fitness Suite. Students have two periods' free use of the Fitness Suite per week.
More details on the sport facilities and activities for 2024-25 will be available soon.
Subjects provide opportunities for Sixth Form students to mentor students in the lower school. This is a fantastic opportunity for students considering careers working with young people such as teaching, social work, nursing, early years education, etc.
More details will be available in the 'Freshers' Fair' in September.
The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award is an extremely prestigious and widely recognised youth award. It is on offer for students between the ages of 16 and 25. You do not need to have completed the Bronze or Silver Awards in order to participate in the Gold Award.
The Gold Award involves expeditions, volunteering, sporting activities, non-sporting activities and a week-long residential. It enables you to continue to develop your communication skills, confidence, resilience, ability to commit, fitness levels and personal wellbeing.
More details will be available in the 'Freshers' Fair' in September.
The Wellbeing Hub offers a space for students to take part in mindfulness activities, arts and crafts, a safe space to relax with friends to prioritise self care. The space also offers a fully equipped gym which is exclusive to Sixth Form students and you are able to use this once you have completed a liability disclaimer form. Miss Borthwick, our Wellbeing Lead, encourages students to opt in for the Wellbeing Enrichment to support you in prioritising your individual needs and building on your self care skills and independence.
Peer Listening has been set up by the Mental Health Foundation to encourage students to support their peers. Our Year 12 students share presentations with Year 9 volunteers on the topics of anxiety, healthy relationships, kindness and body image. Students are nominated by their Head Of Year / Assistant Head Of Year and invited to join the Sixth Form students for three sessions, are given time to reflect and share if they want to and listen.
