Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS)
What courses are offered?
Options available include core, elective, and AP courses. See the District Website for a current course list on the WVS website.
Who should apply?
Students interested in courses not currently offered at SCHS or who cannot fit a course into their current schedule. Students must be an independent learner and comfortable contacting instructors outside of the building for assistance.
How am I enrolled?
Students must meet with his/her school counselor, and then fill out the student registration form located on the district website under Academics – Online Options.
Where and when do I work on my classes?
Students will be assigned to student-paced learning, one class period during the school day. They can also access their course anywhere the internet is available.
Who is my teacher? Who provides the curriculum?
The teacher is a Wisconsin-certified teacher. All courses offered are aligned to national and state standards. Classes are contracted through Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS).
What does the LEG do?
All participating students have an assigned LEG (Learning Education Guide) in the high school, who acts as their mentor, to help that student stay on track and to be as successful as possible in their online learning environment.
What is orientation?
All students participating for the first time must complete an online orientation and meet with the LEG to be given a brief overview of how they participate in their online course including how to navigate in the virtual environment as well as how to submit their work.
Who pays for the online course?
Classes are paid for by the school district. If students wish to drop their online course without fees, they must notify their counselor before the deadline.
NOTE: Students are limited to one online course per term.
