This course will focus more on the field crops and agronomy portion of the agriculture plant industry. Student participants will explore in more depth: soil origin and soil properties, irrigation, plant nutrition, soil sampling, fertilizers, organic materials, and weed and crop identification. Students will experience hands-on labs in the greenhouse, outdoors and in the classroom, videos, speakers, possible field trips and research based projects.

This course is designed for students who are interested in working with animals. This is a hands-on, lab intensive, advanced animal science course. Students have the opportunity to work with animals by giving injections, learning how to suture wounds, learning animal restraints, examining x-rays, and doing physical exams of common pets. Guest speakers, demonstrations, labs with animals, field trips, and job-shadowing or volunteer hours will be part of the course. Careers including veterinarians, vet technicians, lab technicians, working in a vet clinic, humane societies, and zoologists will be introduced.

Wisconsin Recreational Certification & Regulations

Students will study administration of Wildlife Management. Hunting and fishing regulations are studied as well as habitat of those animals in Wisconsin. Students will become certified in the recreational activities for Hunter Safety, Trapper Safety, Snowmobile Safety, ATV Safety, and Boating Safety. Students will receive hands on training with the proper use of recreational equipment and proper gun safety. Career areas associated with the DNR will be discussed.
There is a $10 certification fee for each certification desired.
