Intro To Theatre & Acting

Introduction to Theatre and Acting is a course for students who have an interest in theatre. Students become comfortable performing in front of a small audience, and are also expected to participate in or attend the Seymour High School Musical and The Winter Play. Participation will be factored into the student’s grade. Students will also take field trips to UWGB theatre, Studio Two, and the Weidner Center.
Topics covered: Theatre history, improvisation, acting, makeup, costumes, set designs, lighting, and other aspects of theatre production.

Leadership Theory and Practice

This course provides a survey of leadership theories and issues with an emphasis on practical applications of leadership models in contemporary organizations. Students will explore various leadership theories, along with the impact of the organizational setting and situation. Students will be challenged to explore their own skills as leaders, followers, and organizers through exams, case studies, and a leadership project.

Student Leadership - STAN

Prerequisite: 9th grade students must complete application process to participate
Students Taking Action Now (STAN) students teach character development lessons to district elementary students with teacher supervision. High school students develop, prepare and teach small group lessons each month. Students who take this course more than once are expected to take on more advanced leadership roles. Student Leadership is typically offered every other day with Student Leadership Physical Education or study hall.
Students will be required to purchase a S.T.A.N. shirt.

Yearbook Production

Yearbook Production is a course in which students assist with all aspects of creating a yearbook publication.
Topics covered: Photography skills and techniques, photo editing, graphic design/page layout and design, interviewing, writing captions, selling advertisements, and yearbook sales/marketing.
Attendance at after school activities may be required throughout the semester for photography event coverage. Due to the yearbook printing schedule, additional (flexible) work time outside of class during spring semester may be necessary until yearbook is completed and submitted for final publication deadline. Access to a camera (not a phone) is recommended.
Anyone considering a graphic design related field should take this class. Students are encouraged to enroll in second, third, and fourth year for continued study and leadership positions (editors, etc.).
