This cadre will address needs unique to the role of District PBIS Coaches and School PBIS Coaches. There will be a variety of topics covered including: Annual PBIS Evaluation Planning, TFI Walkthroughs, TFI Analysis & Action Planning, Review of Updated PBIS Tier 1 Elements, School Climate Surveys, Review of PBIS Tier 2 Elements, Review of PBIS Tier 3 Elements, Summer PD Planning for PBIS, End of Year Data Reviews, Analyzing Action Plan Progress. The role of the Coach on the School or District PBIS Leadership Team is a vital role. Responsibilities vary from district to district and school to school but generally include providing support for:
Team start-up
Team sustainability
Public relations/communication
Positive reinforcement and encouragement to students/staff
Technical assistance/data-based decision making
Problem solving
Local training/leadership

Learning from other PBIS Coaches is an important part of your professional growth and development. The SESC Coop offers a variety of ways to network through face-to-face meetings/trainings as well as through electronic networking connections (e-mail, social media, teleconferencing). PBIS coaching buffers schools from problems associated with training alone. Coaches support schools throughout their PBIS implementation to help it fit within the local context at the district or school building levels. The provide ongoing presence and technical support with PBIS expertise related to behavior theory, data-based decision making and problem-solving/trouble shooting.
