A planning packet has been developed for SESC schools and districts which can be used to prepare teams for the logistics around CSTAG training.
Please note the team membership requirements in item #1 of the planning packet. This model of threat assessment is based on a team working together to complete the assessment rather than an individual professional. If schools have a working relationship with local mental health providers, you are also encouraged to include them. The ideal teams include administrators, school counselors/psychologists/social workers, SROs, and external mental health clinicians. They can also include other staff.
The training does require the purchasing of a manual (must be purchased prior to the training as it is used by the team during the training). Here is a link to information about the manual and purchasing. Cost for the manual is $50 (minimum of 1 per site, recommend 1 for each team member if possible).
The CSTAG developer's website contains additional information. https://www.schoolta.com/
Please contact Dusty Phelps at dusty.phelps@sesccoop.org for more information about this training (Note: This training is not offered by SESC staff at this time, but is available via other avenues.).
