We will have a topic for the day, discuss healthy habits, share recipes, talk about independent living skills, and job concerns and current events.
The Foundations for Life program offers a daily social hour from 11-12 via Zoom. Students are able to meet with their teachers and classmates to play a game, work on social skills, or ask for assistance with the online curriculum.
In the assignment below. Students were asked to use "Conversation Cards" to start a discussion with one of their family members. This assignment was completed in conjunction with speech and language support.
I made a recipe called Pastelon. Pastelón is a Puerto Rican casserole dish layered like Italian lasagne made with exclusively sweet plantains, stuffed with mincemeat, vegetables, and bound together with beaten eggs.

This weeks cooking assignment:
1.Have only 20.00 dollars for your budget
(do not go over 20.00)
2. Shop inside your home with ingredients you already have, writing down the item and price. If it does not have a price look it up online.
3. Prepare on paper only a 3 course meal including appetizer, main course, and dessert.
4. Make only one of these items to eat.
5. Let me know how much money you spent, what your 3 course meal was, what you actually made.
6. Send me a picture with a recipe if you have one. I love to see what your doing.
In April, Lori showed her class how to make "Georgia Banana Bread" in her own kitchen. Using a recipe from her friends son, she challenges her students to make this recipe on their own.
