In the Spring of 2020, SDUHSD adopted Lab Aids SEPUP as their primary instructional materials for 7th and 8th grade integrated science, and are finished conducting pilots.
SDUHSD middle school science teachers and students should access the Lab Aids online platform through Clever. Links to the Clever portal are located on the SDUHSD Teacher and Student Start Pages. Lab-Aids also has a “Log In with Clever” button on their login page. Clever simplifies the login process for teachers and students so that they do not have to remember separate passwords.
Teacher Instructions
1. Make sure you are logged into your district Google account.
2. From the district start page, select "Clever" button under "Quick Links". (video tutorial)
3. Select "Login with Google." If prompted, select your district Google account.
4. You should be directed to the Clever homepage. Scroll down under District Resources and select "Lab Aids".
5. You should be directed to the Lab-Aids portal homepage.
6. Assign books to students following these instructions. Each student counts as one license, regardless of the number of books assigned to them. You can have multiple books assigned to one student, and only one license will be taken up per student. So feel free to assign books in Spanish to those students who would benefit from them.
7. While we do not have the ability to fully integrate with Google Classroom due to our method of rostering, you are able to manually share links to Google Classroom for specific textbook pages and/or simulations using these instructions.
8. Teachers and students are also able to access Lab-Aids through their sign in portal by selecting the "Login with Clever" option (make sure you are logged into your district Google account).
9. Submit a district Tech Ticket to report any issues.

The Lab Aids portal has a Spanish textbook available to assign to students. For other languages, unfortunately, the Lab Aids portal does not work with Google Translate. See below for a workaround.
Translated Resources: download the PDFs of the student version and use translate.google.com, upload the PDF, and then translate. This is faster than converting the PDF to a doc, reformatting, and then translating via Google Docs (Amy Springstead’s Universal Supports Website has these instructions)
Click here for a Google Doc version of the 7th Grade Lab Aids Textbook in a format that will allow you to use Google Translate to convert it to a different language. The current translation is in Chinese, but teachers can make a copy of the doc, and change the right hand columns to the language(s) needed. Thank you to Lindsey McVay for creating this tremendous resource.
Jenn is working with Brie Weatherford to see if we can support the creation of an 8th grade version.
Below you will find resources to support implementation of the Lab Aids Instructional materials for 7th grade, formally adopted by SDUHSD for use during the 2020-2021 school year. Please add resources to these folders, and adjust sharing settings so they are viewable by colleagues.

A second virtual training will be offered in mid-late September and will focus on assessment within the Lab Aids portal...
