Along with teaching content and skills using the Next Generation Science Standards we still need to be diligent to teach the skills for literacy using the Common Core Standards for Science. Below you will find the standards for reading and writing for Common Core Science.

Reading

Cite textual evidence to support claims.
Determine the central idea of a text.
Precisely follow a multistep procedure.
Determine the meaning of subject-specific terms and symbols.
Analyze the relationships among concepts.
Analyze the author’s purpose in a text.

Writing

Write coherent arguments focused on discipline-specific content.
