Access PE/ Adapted PE
Access Physical Education is about creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where every student can participate meaningfully in physical education classes.
How We Achieve Access:
Individualized Support: We work closely with students who have Adapted Physical Education on their IEPs to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications. This may include:
Adapted equipment: Using specialized equipment like modified balls, ramps, and supportive devices.
Modified activities: Adjusting the rules, difficulty level, or expectations of activities to ensure success.
Assistive technology: Utilizing tools like wheelchairs, walkers, or communication devices.
Inclusive Practices: We strive to create a classroom environment that is inclusive of all students, including those who may not have an IEP but require support to fully participate. This may involve:
Differentiated instruction: Offering a variety of activity options and allowing students to choose activities that best suit their abilities and interests.
Universal design for learning: Creating a learning environment that is flexible and adaptable to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Positive and encouraging atmosphere: Fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and respected.
Our Commitment:
We are committed to providing all students with access to a high-quality physical education experience. We believe that physical activity is essential for overall health and well-being, and we strive to create opportunities for all students to develop motor skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of movement.
