To graduate from CCA, all students must earn a passing grade of D or higher in the following:

• English 9 or English 9 Honors

• English 10 or English 10 Honors

• English 11 or AP English Language

• English 12 or AP English Literature.  

To apply to most four-year colleges, students must earn a C grade or higher in these courses.

To graduate from CCA, all students must earn a passing grade in 30 credits of math and pass Integrated Math 1.  Algebra 1 or Integrated Math 1 or higher math course taken in middle school will satisfy the requirement but no high school credit will be granted for courses taken at the middle school.

To apply to most four-year colleges, students must earn a "C" or higher in Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2 and Integrated Math 3.  An additional math may be recommended or required.  Students may take as many math courses as their schedule will allow, but prerequisites and department recommendations should be followed.

To graduate from CCA, all students must earn a passing grade in ten credits of a Life Science and ten credits of a Physical Science.  To apply to most four-year colleges, students must earn a "C" or higher in at least two laboratory sciences. Please note prerequisites and department recommendations for all science courses.

To graduate from CCA, all students must earn a grade of D or higher in World History (grade 10), U.S. History (grade 11), and American Government/Economics (grade 12).  American Government and Economics are both 9-week courses, and they are taken together in one term.  

To apply to most four-year colleges, students must earn a C or higher in these courses.  Students may take electives at any time, provided that the elective is offered at their grade level.  

To graduate from CCA, no world language is required.  World language classes count towards elective credits for CCA graduation purposes.  To apply to most four-year colleges, students must earn a C or higher in two years of the same language other than English, with three years recommended, or equivalent.  Students may take as many world languages as their schedule will allow, but prerequisites and department recommendations should be followed.  Middle school course(s) may be used to satisfy college entrance requirements but no high school credit will be granted for course(s) taken during middle school.  Students can earn the California State Seal of Biliteracy by demonstrating proficiency in both the English language and a second-language.

To graduate from CCA, all students must pass 20 credits of physical education, take the California Physical Fitness Test (PFT), and complete the State-Mandated Health curriculum, which is integrated into Year-One PE and Dance.

9th grade students are required to take Year-One PE or Dance, which will satisfy 10 PE credits and the required Health Curriculum, and to take the California Physical Fitness Test (PFT).

To graduate from CCA, all students must earn a passing grade in ten credits of a fine/visual art or a performing art.  To apply to most four-year colleges, students must earn at least a "C" or higher in an approved visual or performing art.  Students may take as many visual or performing arts as their schedule will allow, but prerequisites and department recommendations must be followed.

To help you make the most informed decision, refer to the Envision Course Progression document in the folder before you select a performing or visual art, which includes coursework in dance, vocal music, instrumental music, vision arts, theatre, and cinema.
