Understanding AERIES

Log into your Parent AERIES account. Click on Attendance, then click on Attendance again.

You will see the Attendance Calendar that looks something like this.

1 : Student was marked Present in Class by the Teacher

A : Student was marked Absent in Class by the Teacher

3 : Absence was not excused within 48 hours and has become a Truancy

"-" : Attendance was not submitted electronically by the Teacher

Other codes you may see on AERIES if you have emailed CCAAttendance@sduhsd.net within 48 hours of the student's absence to excuse them.

I - Student was ill

E - Student was excused for an absence covered under the California EdCode

X - Student was out for personal reasons

Q - Student was out for a valid Medical Reason

5 - Student missed a class due to Power Outage or WiFi problems

O - Student was out due to a Family Emergency

Engagement Notes and how to read them

Look at the bottom right hand corner to see who created the note. If the note was created by the Attendance office it will read "mbravosaltzman".

Different codes may appear (upper right hand corner)

NF - Note on File : will include information about email or voicemail and what updates were done to student's attendance.

ADI - All Day Ill : will include information sent by the parent/guardian/18yo student regarding reason for absence

ADE - All Day Excused : will include information sent by the parent/guardian/18yo student regarding reason for absence

ADX - All Day Personal : will include information sent by the parent/guardian/18yo student regarding reason for absence

CV - College Visit Approved : Juniors and Seniors are allowed up to 3 excused absences per year to visit colleges

If a Student is Tardy to class

The teacher will mark them with either T1 or T2, depending on when the student logged in. Look at the top right corner (highlighted in green) to see what period that the student arrived late to.

T1 : Student logged in less than 30 minutes after class began

T2 : Student logged in more than 30 minutes after class began

Engagement codes

Students may receive any of the previous Engagement notes for each period. Look at the Top Left corner (green highlighted area) to see the period, and Top Right corner (yellow highlighted area) to see the Engagement code)

SYN : Student was engaged during Synchronous education time

ASY : Student completed work during Asynchronous education time

DLP : Student was Partially engaged during Distance Learning Synchronous time

DLN : Student was Not engaged during Distance Learning Synchronous time
