The Identity & Allyship Awarenes Badge is a three-tiered professional development series facilitated by the Residential Education office and the Center for Inclusive Excellence that is designed to deepen student leaders’ understanding of identity, social justice, and inclusive leadership. IAAB 101 introduces foundational concepts such as power, privilege, bias, and identity awareness. IAAB 201 builds on this knowledge by emphasizing practical skills like active allyship, conflict resolution, and equitable community-building. IAAB 301 focuses on leadership application and career development, where participants design and facilitate presentations and discussions, to further demonstrate their growth as advocates for inclusion.
For Resident Advisors (RAs) and Community Assistants (CAs), the IAAB aligns directly with your roles as community builders, peer supporters, and role models within SDSU’s residential communities. Through IAAB, student leaders are empowered not only to support diverse student populations, but also to become intentional, equity-driven leaders who foster inclusive environments at SDSU and beyond.
