Established in 1964, the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is the premiere honorary supported by the leading international organization advocating for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development. NRHH strives to provide recognition for individuals who have contributed to the advancement of college and university housing. It ensures the advancement of member chapters through resource sharing, programming, and leadership development opportunities to contribute and support the vision of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated.
A leadership-based honorary comprised of exemplary residential students who value recognition and service.
WHO CAN JOIN? Any residential student that has lived on campus for at least one semester is able to nominate themselves or be nominated by a current member of NRHH.
Advisor: Amaris Gonzalez, Coordinator for Community Engagement (agonzalez23@sdsu.edu)
At its core, NRHH's values are recognition and service. As an organization, SDSU's chapter of NRHH does the following:
"Of the Month" and "Of the Year" nominations to recognize outstanding student leaders, residential staff, programing, and more!
Programing (i.e.: annually hosts "Resident Appreciation Week") in the Residence Halls and in surrounding areas
Hosts and end of the year banquet to recognize the work of hall and community councils
Assists the Residence Hall Association (RHA) in programing and advocacy efforts in the residential communities
If you are interested in getting involved with NRHH in the sense of becoming a member of the board, look out for Spring and Fall recruitment efforts. One of the requirements to join is to have lived on campus for at least one academic semester, so in the Fall we focus our efforts on Sophomore communities and Student Leaders, but in the Spring we can recruit first year students who are especially passionate about leadership, recognition, and service!
If you are not interested in joining the board, but would still like to be involved in recognizing and serving the residential community, the best ways to start are by attending our service and recognition events, and by submitting OTMs!
If you have questions about what we do, how to get involved, or if you would like to collaborate with us on a service or recognition project, please contact Alejandra Ruiz at PRESIDENT.SDSUNRHH@sdsu.edu
