This course is for students who want to hone the craft of writing and to explore literature from a more creative perspective. Students develop their individual styles while learning the drafting, editing, publishing and creative processes. Class involves daily writing activities, group discussions about style, genre, and good storytelling, and a chance to work collaboratively through peer-editing and writing workshops. Students will develop writing portfolios that showcase their progress along with their selected best works. Each student's work is respected and celebrated. Regardless of whether you are a closet poet or heading towards a career in business, if you seek to enhance your creative thinking and expression this class has something to offer you. Creative Writing is open to grade 10-12 students.
Film & Television 10-12 is an engaging and hands-on course that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and creativity to produce professional-quality film and television projects. Students will gain practical experience in acting, scriptwriting, directing, editing, and production, while developing an understanding of the artistic and technical aspects of the industry. This course introduces students to industry standards, preparing them for post-secondary education or careers in the film and television industry. Through exploration and critical analysis, students will examine the cultural, social, and historical impact of film and television, fostering a deeper appreciation for its role in shaping society. Whether pursuing a career in media or simply exploring their passion for storytelling, students will find this course to be a dynamic and inspiring experience.
This course is designed to promote lifelong health and wellness. Throughout the semester, students will explore different activities that will increase awareness, comfort and motivation to continue being active in their own time. It is a fun environment where students will play games they’ve previously enjoyed, try out new ones, and travel to different places to be active. Students will have the opportunity to have input on some of the activities that they will be participating in class, such as pilates, yoga, and Zumba. This course requires a positive attitude, a willingness to work with others and try new things, and a commitment to attendance and participation.
