FPF is not alone in the realm of data privacy nonprofit organizations. For instance, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) offers resources to personnel who would like to advance their careers within their organization or help others manage risks and protect data. This is a global organization, and touts itself as the largest of its kind in the world (Foitzik and Carson, 2020). However, the IAPP focuses on business, and does not have an education specific area of focus.

Other organizations that deal specifically with EdTech data privacy are for profit organizations; that is, these data privacy companies would help EdTech companies organize their products and services so that they are protecting their EdTech company as well as their clients. In the name of transparency, I will not suggest any of these companies in order to alleviate any bias towards one or another, as this report is not about those companies. Rather, the author would recommend that an EdTech company source these private data companies out themselves to acquire their services to protect the company from data protection infringement. Furthermore, several for profit data privacy companies support FPF through contributions, so an EdTech organization could research those companies found in FPF’s annual report (found on their website).
