Welcome to February 5th Class!
February is the first month of Spring in the Celtic calendar. It's a time of hope and renewal. It's also St Brigid's Day, one of the patron saints of Ireland, alongside St Patrick.
We are changing our reading groups from today. Today you must read Chapter 36, complete 3-5 VIPS, one thick question and 1 Reading Response. Tomorrow, we will divide the class in two. Ms Desmond will have one group, I will have the other. We will ask everyone their VIPS, thick questions and reading responses and use this for our discussion, like we would in class. We will do the same on Wednesday. Then on Thursday we will have a whole class discussion. Please try and stay up to date with the reading so you can take part in the discussion. And remember, if you are listening to the book please read along in your novel at the same time.
This week in Maths we will be examining Time. We start by adding and subtracting time on page 106, Busy at Maths, question 1 & 2.
Your new WOW words are below, please find the definitions.
There is some short presentations on St Brigid's life and legends, and her connection to Celtic Spring, please view and enjoy.
Talk to you at 11am everyone!
Thank you,
Mr Kelly

This week we will look at Time and today we are adding and subtracting minutes. The key number is 60 - minutes in a hour, seconds in a minute...so when you reach 60 you must round to one hour. See the videos below and I will go through it with you today during our meeting.
