TEEEC Paragraphs

Writing to PERSUADE

TEEEC Paragraphs are used to persuade. They are a great way to prove an argument or an opinion.

T - Topic Sentence: State your main point (sum up the answer to the question in one sentence)

E - Elaboration: Give extra detail about your topic or define it further

E - Evidence: Give proof to support your point such as statistics, a quote or an example

E - Explanation: Explain how your evidence proves your point

C - Conclusion/Continuation: Sum up your point and if there is another paragraph after this, link to your next point

Tip: Once you are familiar with the basic TEEEC paragraph, you can start writing more complex paragraphs which have more Es in them. For example, you might rearrange the order of your explanation, evidence and elaboration or have multiple pieces of evidence which each require elaboration.

Remember, if you quoted another sources in your TEEEC paragraph, you will need to include a bibliography.
