Cornell Method of Note Taking
The Cornell method can be useful to document notes in class. It is also an easy way to create a summary and review your notes.
The Cornell note taking method has three different sections which each serves a purpose:
1. Take notes from the lecture or readings, so that you have a record of information you may have forgotten (Notes section).
2. Review and and jot down key words and ideas from notes (smaller column on the left hand side).
3. Write a summary in your own words of what was covered in the lecture or reading which you can easily look through (Summary section)
You can also:
- Skip a line between ideas
- Abbreviate as needed
- Draw or doodle relevant material
