How Adversity Creates Strength
Jeannette Walls and her sisters and brother experience misfortune and hardship in the book Glass Castle; they were homeless and frequently on the run from the police, they went hungry for days, they complained that they would be left behind because they had become a burden, and as Jeannette and her brother and sisters grew older, they saved money and helped each other leave and go.
Jeannette Walls and her brothers and sisters went starving for days, for example, “There's no food in the house," Brian said.” (Author: Walls, Jeannette, Page #79, Glass Castle: Brian said there is no food in the house.). Brian has had plenty of opportunities to communicate that there isn't any food to eat without whining or acting hungry. Another example is “I added. "I was hungry." Mom gave me a startled look. I'd broken one of our unspoken rules. We were always supposed to pretend our life was one long and incredibly fun adventure.” (Author: Walls, Jeannette, Page #71, Glass Castle: Jeannette goes to her mom and tells her mom that she’s hungry.Rose looks at Jeannette like she broke an unspoken rule of pretending their life Is full of happiness and joy.) Jeannette and her brothers are compelled to never complain about their lives, even if they are hungry, as this quotation illustrates. This demonstrates how hardship breeds strength, as well as the difficulty Jeannette had to overcome in order to become stronger.”
Jeannette and her siblings, for example, never whined when they thought they were going to be left behind. “After a while, it got cold and uncomfortable in the back of the dark U- Haul. The engine made the floor vibrate, and we'd all go tumbling whenever we hit a bump. Several hours passed. By then we were all dying to pee and wondering if Dad was going to pull over for a rest”. (Author: Walls, Jeannette, Page #50, Glass Castle: Jeannette and her siblings got on the back of a U-Haul and after a while, it got uncomfortable and cold and Jeannette and her siblings had to hold their pee in, wondering if Jeannette’s dad is going to stop.) This shows that Jeannette had her doubts that her father would stop, and Jeannette and her siblings had to sit in the back of a U-Haul truck while it was uncomfortable and cold. Jeannette and her siblings didn’t complain. Furthermore “He's out finding us food and looking for work," I'd say. But I wondered if he didn't really want to be around us unless he could provide for us. I tried to never complain.” (Author: Walls, Jeannette, Page #69, Glass Castle: Rex Walls is out looking for a job and food that’s what Jeannette would say but she wonders if he really didn’t want to be around his family Jeannette tried to never complain.) This demonstrates that Jeannette and her siblings never complained. When most children are dependent on their parents, Jeannette and her siblings learned to be self-sufficient at a young age.
When Jeannette's siblings grew up, they pooled their resources and helped each other go to college and enjoy a normal life in New York City. For example, “I told Lori about my escape fund, the seventy-five dollars I'd saved. From now on, I said, it would be our joint fund. We'd take on extra work after school and put everything we earned into the piggy bank. Lori could take it to New York and use it to get established so that by the time I arrived, everything would be set.” (Author: Walls, Jeannette, Page #227, Glass Castle: Lori and Jeannette shared money and put it all in a piggy bank they took on extra work so they can make more money so Lori can go to New York City and they Jeannette can follow.) This demonstrates Lori and Jeannette's collaboration in order to escape Welch and live a regular life in New York City. “He could share the living room with me, there was plenty of space for a second bed—the toilet flushed, and the ceiling never leaked. When I finished, Brian was silent for a moment. Then he said, "When's the soonest I can come?" (Author: Walls, Jeannette, Page #252, Glass Castle: Jeannette said Brian can live in her living room and the ceiling never leaked to convince Brian to come to New York City and Brian agreed.) This demonstrates that Jeannette and her siblings are working together to get out of there and stay alive. This shows that Jeannette and her siblings helped each other leave Welch and grow strong enough to survive on their own.
In the book Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls and her sisters and brother face misfortune and adversity; they were homeless and had frequent run-ins with the police, they went without food for days, they frequently complained that they would be left behind and alone because they were seen as a burden, and as Jeannette and her siblings grew older, they began to save money and help each other through difficult times. Every year, between 70 billion and 100 billion plastic bags are used by Americans, with families bringing home an average of 1,500 each year. New York City is a place where you can live a normal life. Adversity taught Jeannette and her siblings to persevere in the face of adversity.
It is always better to tell the truth. This is because the truth always ends up getting out so either way, it will be smarter to just tell the truth. As much as sometimes the only thing you can do is lie, always remember that the truth will get out.
The truth always has a way of coming out no matter what. Sometimes if you lie there may be no effect and it won’t really be that significant. However, if you continue to lie and the lies start to escalate you can get into really big trouble. For example, one time I was running late when I was going home and I had to go somewhere at 4 but I ended up telling my mom and dad that I was almost there. This resulted in us not going at all. This shows how even though it might have been a small little lie it did result in me not doing what I wanted to do because I lied about how far away I was. As you can see although it may be a little lie it can always escalate and turn into something bigger.
When telling a lie one can get away with something and hope that the lie isn’t uncovered. Sometimes you can get away with it but with bigger more important things lying isn’t always going to be the answer.
Although lies can seem very minuscule at times they can have very negative effects on you as a person. For example, in the book “The Boy That Cries, Wolf” the boy would lie to the townspeople that there was a wolf but when there actually was one the townspeople didn’t believe the boy. This shows that when lying people would stop trusting you because they wouldn’t know to either believe you or not. Overall, lying can have very big effects on one’s character and it never results well.
Now when choosing to tell the truth or say a little lie it can be very hard to decide. This is because the truth itself can have very negative effects sometimes and a little lie helps make a more positive effect. For example, one time when I was younger I had cut all the skin off my right knee off because I tripped and fell right on a metal rod that my mom told me to stay away from. So when my mom asked how that happened I said that I was just walking past it and I fell because it tripped but in reality, I knew it was there and I was jumping around it and that’s what caused me to fall. The reason I didn’t tell the truth was that I was scared that my mom would have gotten really angry at me and at the time I wasn’t really thinking straight because my whole right knee was bleeding. This experience helped me realize that sometimes all you can do is tell a little white lie. However, telling the truth is always better than lying and letting it escalate into something more serious.
In conclusion, telling the truth is always better than lying straight up to people and it’s always good, to be honest, and be honest to yourself. Throughout my 13 years on this earth, I have told many lies and most of them didn’t result very well. However, it is always better to tell the truth as dire as the situation may be. Ultimately, telling the truth will always benefit you more than lying to people.
School has been around since 1635 and is still going to this day. The first school in the world was known as the Boston Latin School. This school was first established in Boston, Massachusetts and was led by Schoolmaster Philemon Pormont. Some may say that school isn’t important and is a hassle and isn’t necessary at all. However, that is wrong. School is very important in life because we need to be educated for jobs, know their democratic government, and we can make new relationships with others.

School is very important because the education we gain from school helps us make a living in life such as finding a job. For example, “This March, only 54.9 percent of workers with a high school diploma were employed”. This relates to the claim because it shows how only 54.9% of people with only a high school diploma were employed. Also, it shows how people with a college degree will have a more likely chance of getting employed than people with only a high school diploma. In addition, it states on epi.org that “The connection between education and income is strong. A high school diploma, technical college certificate, or college degree not only increases one’s skills and productivity, but signals to employers that the individual is motivated and completes tasks.”. This relates to the claim because it shows the benefits of having an education and how it signals employers that you complete tasks that are motivated when you have a full college degree. This shows how having a college degree helps you out in the workforce such as helping employers know you are valuable as well as it ups your chances of getting a job, in addition to that it also helps students know their government and rights.

School helps you build your democratic knowledge and know your rights in the real world. This is important because knowing your rights and liberties in this democratic government sets you up for life especially if you get into any encounters with police, court, government officials, and etc. For example, democratic information can help students with run-ins with the police/government so if they get mistreated or unjustly get arrested they will know their rights and cite them on sight. This relates to the claim that it will shape people’s lives because they would know their rights and not get unjustly arrested. In addition, democratic information and values can help students/people know their democracy and government and the way it works. Democratic information will help people know the rights and wrongs and the penalties to what they do, also they would know how to go about life in this government. Democracy is a very important thing that students should understand and they should know the rules of it. In addition to that, school also helps form life-long relationships with people.

School helps students build relationships that can be lifelong friendships. This is very important to shaping young lives because it helps students have connections and confidence with others to share themselves with each other. For example, it states in this pdf that “Friendships help children develop emotionally and morally. In interacting with friends, children learn many social skills, such as how to communicate, cooperate, and solve problems. ... Children tend to have better attitudes about school and learning when they have friends there. Relationships and friendships help students emotionally develop as well as help students keep better attitudes throughout school when they have a friend or friends that they can be their true self with. Students need to develop emotionally and morally in order to get a job and have a profession and friends are the key to that which helps them also tone their social skills. In addition, it states on this website that “good friends are good for your health. Friends can help you celebrate good times and provide support during bad times. Friends prevent loneliness and give you a chance to offer needed companionship, too.” These friendships that you can make in school can be life changing because friends can prevent loneliness, depression, etc because of the companionship they can offer you and you can offer them. This shows how students building friendships can be very beneficial to their mental health and to their social skills. However, others may say school isn’t important and doesn’t matter in life.

Opposed to the claim , some may argue that school doesn’t help people in life and that it doesn’t matter. For example, on the business insider website Brandon Dawson stated “I was an average student with a 2.4 GPA. After high school, I moved to Georgia for a sales job with a lot of traveling. I learned to be self-sufficient, connect with others, and sell to professionals.” This example shows how a man with a net worth of $75 million dollars wasn’t even considered that smart in school catapulted his career with the works of his own craft. However, this isn’t realistic. Not everyone will be able to have the resources to build their own craft and skyrocket their company after getting fired by it. In conclusion, it is not realistic for everyone to be like Brandon Dawson and that school does help people in life that don’t have access to as much resources.

In conclusion, School is very important to student’s lives due to all it can teach you and help you in the real world. If my argument is correct the implications on the world would be very severe. This is because if people follow my argument there would be a higher rate of educated workers and a lower rate of people that have no jobs, that are grown living at home with Dad and Mom. School is very crucial to life and if everybody tries their hardest to get a college degree they will most likely become successful. Overall, school is very important because we just overall need to be educated to have success because education is the key to success.

Technology has become more advanced over the years especially when it comes to search engines such as Google. Since modern society is so dependent on modern-day technology it is affecting the way our brains work and how we think. The internet as a whole is making a negative impact on how our brains work and think because of studies showing that it can lead to cognitive overload, students not being able to comprehend long texts, internet making us not able to sustain information, and that the Internet is in fact making us more stupid.
The internet can lead us to cognitive overload. The internet allows us to obtain knowledge in a blink of an eye however it can cause a decline in our ability to sustain information. For example, Text 2 paragraph 5 states “ When the load exceeds our mind’s ability to process and store it, we’re unable to retain the information or to draw connections with other memories”. This shows how when we process too much information we aren’t able to regularly draw connections and process information because of the overload of information that weakens our brain’s ability. It also states Text 2 paragraph 5 “ Our ability to learn suffers, and our understanding remains weak”. This shows how when processing too much information especially off the internet it makes our brain’s ability to learn and understand new information weaker. The internet is a very good tool for mankind but the research that Gary Small found shows how it can lead to cognitive overload but, in addition to that, the internet also makes students basically unable to comprehend long texts.
Students have been relying on the internet for a good amount of time especially in these last couple of years but it’s not all that good. This is because the internet actually made it harder for students to comprehend and read long texts. For example, in Text 1 paragraph 11 states “ Nelson, who has been teaching for more than 9 years, says it was obvious with her middle school students and even with her 15-year-old daughter that they are unable to read long texts anymore”. This shows that younger people are starting to lose their reading skills and this is because of the google search engine. For instance, in Text 1 paragraph 13 states “ He found among older people that have experience using the internet, their brains are two times more active than those who don’t when conducting searches. This shows that experienced people that have already developed their brains have a more active brain than younger people who are less experienced when it comes to the internet. This is most likely why they can’t comprehend long texts and it is because their brain isn’t as developed and since they have been on their computer so much it has caused them to not be able to learn as well and their understanding of regular things suffer as well. The internet has its effects on younger people that can be very drastic since the ability to read and understand is so great and vital in life and in becoming successful, in addition to that, the internet also makes us more stupid.
The internet can indeed make you stupid. This is because when you are on the internet you’re always searching something up, watching something, waiting for a notification, and you’re always doing something. For instance, in Text 3 paragraph 10 states “ -that a parade of tweets and hyperlinks is training our brains to expect constant stimulation and thus rendering us incapable of reading a book, let alone sustaining any type of profound contemplation that leads to real wisdom”. This shows how the constant expectation of constant stimulation from the internet makes us incapable of reading or really having any wisdom that didn’t come from online. Also, Text 4 paragraph 2 states that “ The wealth of communication and information can easily overwhelm our reasoning abilities. This meaning that the mass amounts of communication and information you can get from the internet can basically just overwhelm your reasoning because everything on the internet is just given to us on a silver platter so there isn’t much reason to critically think or reason. The internet has both a good and bad influence on our lives such as being able to have almost every answer at your fingertips as well as losing your reasoning and critical thinking, in addition to that, Some may say that the internet doesn’t have a negative effect on our brains.
Some may argue that the internet is very good and doesn’t have a negative effect on our brains but only positive because of things such as video games, social media, google, and etc. This is because they believe that since the internet has so many great things about it, and to them, it means there are no negative effects however there are many negative effects such as weakening your ability to learn and understand information. For example, Text 2 paragraph 9 states “ The ability to scan and browse is as important as the ability to read deeply and think attentively. The problem is that skimming is becoming our dominant mode of thought”. This shows how even though being able to scan and browse topics to learn, is fast it doesn’t allow us to really learn and understand things fully. Also, in Text 2 paragraph 6 it states “ Every time we shift our attention, the brain has to reorientate itself, further taxing our mental resources”. This shows that although using google and the internet may be good and help you learn a lot, it ends up taxing your mental resources since most of the time you’re using Google you’re doing something else like homework or projects and multitasking is what makes it tax your mental resources even more.
In conclusion, the internet doesn’t have good effects on our brain because it limits and lessens the power of functions our brains have. Throughout the world, people use search engines no matter if it’s google, safari, Bing, and etc, and if they learn what it can do to your brain they can moderate their use on it. In conclusion, the internet has a negative impact on our brains, and it doesn’t do much good for our mental resources.

Why People Make Bad Decisions
The circumstances of everyday life forces people to make bad decisions. Throughout the heat of the moment people make rash decisions due to one’s emotions throughout the situation. Many videos such as the ones mentioned in the essay show studies of why people make irrational decisions. However, some may say that people who make bad and irrational decisions are dysfunctional. On other hand, throughout all of those videos and passages it has been evident that people make decisions because of their emotional status at that current moment, authority enforcing them to do things, and the best thing to do in terms of their own self-interest.
People often make bad decisions based on their own emotional status at the current moment. This is because people often think irrationally and rush through the heat of the moment. For example, in “Lamb To The Slaughter,” Mary Maloney was caught off guard by some important and unexpected news and made a rash decision where she “ simply walked up behind him and without any pause she swung the big frozen leg of lamb high in the air and brought it down as hard as she could on the back of his head” (Dahl,Roald). Mary was overcome with shock which caused her suddenly to kill the man. Since, shock overcame her body it basically made everything in that scenario numb and blank which made her think irrationally. The emotion of shock influences people to go off of the bat without any logical thinking. This is because “You experience shock when suddenly something bad happens, which you had not seen coming at all; these pieces of news will also evoke other emotions, such as anger, fear, and sadness, respectively”(User,Super). Therfore, the overwhelming emotion of shock can result different emotions such as anger which Mary most definitely experienced because she committed murder. Shock is very significant in one’s emotions due to what it can cause you to do. In addition, in “Lather and Nothing Else” the narrator is faced with making a decision of killing a man or just doing his duty and shaving the man’s beard. He begins to think about the outcomes of both scenarios “The man who murdered Captain Torres. He slit his throat while giving him a shave. A coward.” Or, “The man who avenged our people. A name to remember (fill in my name). He was the town barber. No one knew that he supported our cause…”(Tellez,Hernando). The narrator is evaluating on how people would think of him if he completed this action of killing Captain Torres and how it would impact his own personal image. The narrator shows how even he may been seen as a coward he will also be seen as a hero to his people but just because of his emotions and how people will see him he still believes that it is not justifiable to murder. The narrator portrays critical thinking on both ends of his predicament and doubt. He shows doubt because he questions if he has the role in society to take part in murdering someone who has been killing his people for years. To further that statement, in “Lather and Nothing Else” But I don’t want to be a murderer, no sir. You came for a shave. And I will do my duty honorably” and the narrator later says “ You’re an executioner and I’m only a barber”. Therefore, he believes that everyone has their own duty and in this case he is not the executioner but the barber. He uses this statement to show how everyone has their own role and duty and he wants to carry out his duty because he believes it is not his place to kill. In conclusion, one’s emotional status and one’s own take on what can happen to their reputation has a big role in what decisions they choose to make and in addition, the sense of authority also enforces people to do bad actions.
The sense of authority enforces people to do bad things and also empowers people to do bad things. This is because there was an experiment showing that people will be pushed to even hurt others because of somebody on an intercom ordering them to do it. According to the Milgram Experiment by Stanford Milgram, people are overwhelmed by the sense of authority powering over them. This is because when the instructor in the experiment was pushing the person to shock the other person. The man showed some resistance but eventually succumbed to the order and shocked the man until he was unresponsive. The man was still being ordered by the instructor to shock the man on the other side even though he was unresponsive. The man showed even more resistance but eventually succumbed to the order shocking the unresponsive man. This overall experiment portrayed the effect of authority on a human being due to the overwhelming feeling that comes over the man when he is being ordered to do something. In addition, another time where the sense of authority powers over people is the Stanford Prison experiment. According to the Stanford Prison Experiment led by Phillip G. Zimbardo, the sense of authority from the guards overwhelmed the prisoners. The sense of authority doesn’t only push people to do things but it also influences people to very drastic actions because of their own authority. For example, in the Stanford Prison Experiment the guards become very unfair. .They began to mistreat the prisoners and basically strip them of all humanity, basically throwing their rights away. This is because the guards stripped the prisoners of their clothes, names, put chains on their feet, and started referring to them as numbers. This unfair treatment caused the prisoners to lock themselves in their cells but the guards became exasperated and kicked down the cell doors and punished the prisoners even more. They even stripped the prisoners of their undergarments and due to the abuse that the prisoners were going under the experiment ended on the 6th day when it was expected to last 1-2 weeks. . The Stanford Prison Experiment was an experiment of authority and clearly the guards had too much authority which they had abused. In conclusion, authority is a key factor in making bad decisions because being overpowered by authority pushes you to do things whether good or bad and when having authority it brings a feeling of power which makes some feel more powerful and irrational. In addition, people also make bad decisions for their own self interest.
People make bad decisions based on their own self interest because sometimes the good outweighs the bad. This is because in their eyes as long as it can benefit them it doesn’t matter what they do which shows stage 2 of moral thinking. For example, in “Button, Button” Norma justifies killing some random person for money because she believes she will never know about their individual death so it wouldn’t matter. This is because in “Button, Button”, “The point is,” Norma broke in, “if it’s someone you’ve never seen in your life and never will see, someone whose death you don’t even have to know about, you still wouldn’t push the button?” Arthur stared at her, appalled. "You mean you would?”“Fifty thousand dollars, Arthur”(Matheson,Richard). Norma is hell-bent on killing some innocent person due to the convenience of her getting $50,000 and having no real connections with the killed person. Norma definitely has a stage 2 way of thinking due to her actions being based on her own self-interest and her mindset being “What’s in it for me” or “What can I get from this”. This is because her stage of thinking is “In Stage 2, a child asks, “What’s in it for me?” The child defines right behavior as whatever is in their best interest. Any concern they show for others is not based on true loyalty or respect, but on a “you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours mentality”(Reidy, Anne Marie). Norma clearly expresses this way of thinking because she only thinks about the benefits she will be getting rather than the negative consequences of her actions. In conclusion, people make bad decisions based on their own self-interest rather than the implications of their actions but some argue that people make bad decisions because they are overconfident and dysfunctional.
Opposed to the argument, some people argue that people make bad decisions because they are dysfunctional. This is because when people make bad decisions they have to eventually think about the outcomes and so if they go through with bad decisions it shows that they ignore outcomes of the decision. For example, overconfident people overestimate themselves whilst making decisions due to overconfidence being “One of the main reasons why smart people do dumb things is that they overestimate their own intelligence and thus their ability to make good decision”(Cunff, Anne-Laure Le). People make bad decisions because they are overconfident in their own abilities which leads to bad decisions which then leads to dysfunctionality due to the bad decisions made due to overconfidence. Also, people that make decisions based on emotions, authority, or self-interest are just dysfunctional due to that being reasoning to their actions. On the other hand, overconfidence is a self-conscious emotion which therefore shows how people do make bad decisions on emotions which completely back track the opposition of the argument. Although overconfidence does lead to bad decisions it is also an emotion which supports the argument. In conclusion, people do not make rash and irrational decisions based on them being dysfunctional but it is based on emotion, authority, and self-interest.
In conclusion, people make bad decisions because of their emotional status at the current moment, sense of authority enforcing people to do things, and their own self-interest. This is because people are very impulsive and usually make decisions based on what they are being told, what they want, or what they feel is right. If my argument is correct, then that means that people’s actions will be based on self-interest, authority, and emotions which it already is. Also if my argument is correct then this means before making bad decisions people will take a beat and evaluate their choices and the outcomes of decisions without making rash decisions off the bat. Overall, people make bad decisions because of their emotional status, authority powering over or powering them, and their own self interest.

Technological War Advancements
War has been around for centuries since approximately 2,700 BC and has been for various reasons whether it was fighting for independence or for more imperialistic reasons such as colonization(Wonderopolis). Moreover, throughout history and all the past wars technology has significantly advanced each war. Whether it was from bows and arrows being introduced or nuclear missiles and tanks being introduced. Technology has always found a way into war and made sure of implementing new creations and methods into war. Technology significantly advanced and enhanced war because of the creation of weapons of mass destruction, new forms of artillery in gunfights, and led to the creation of the United nations.
War was severely enhanced and made more dangerous on a global scale when it came to the creation of new weapons capable of mass destruction. One of these weapons was the atomic bomb that had the ability to destroy a whole city. For example, this atomic bomb advanced the war between the United States and Japan and allowed the United States to win. This is because the United States created the “ little boy and fat man” atomic bombs which they dropped on both Hiroshima and Nagasaki(Atomic Bomb). For example, “The first target chosen was Hiroshima, a city of about 350,000 people. On August 6, 1945, a US bomber plane dropped Little Boy on Hiroshima. The explosion destroyed most of the city. It killed about 80,000 people instantly”. The little boy atomic bomb despite the name was capable of mass destruction and was one of the reasons why Japan surrended at the end. The atomic bomb was the clear reason as to why the United States won the battle and without it the outcomes of that battle may have been completely different. This brings the idea that technology wins wars and is always going to change the outcomes of wars. If the atomic bomb was never created who is able to say that the United States would have still won that war against Japan and if it wasn’t for that atomic bomb the United States would have went with their first plan and invade Japan which could have resulted in the outcome of the war being completely changed as well as the amount of U.S. casualties. For instance, it states “US president Harry Truman was worried that the United States would have to invade Japan to win the war. He thought that too many Americans could be killed in an invasion”(Atomic Bomb). President Harry Truman’s doubt in an invasion plan truly led to the United States win against Japan because it was he who order the bombs on Japan. Moreover, if it wasn’t for the speculation and doubt in the United States first plan the technological advancement of weapons of mass destruction wouldn’t have been implemented into that war. Making it that doubt and speculation led to the technological advancement and need of a weapon capable of mass destruction. In addition, technological advancements led to new artillery in gunfights and battles.
Artillery itself has been around for centuries in multiple different forms from bow and arrows, catapults, cannons, and rocket launchers. Artillery was first widely used by ancient Egyptians around 5000 BC(Artillery). For example, “During the Middle Ages, catapults were used to attack walled cities and castles”. Artillery was present far back in the past used to do the exact same things as current day artillery which was to attack. Tanks were also a new form of artillery during wars such as WWI which was used on the first battle of Somme. Tanks were big armored vehicles usually with a cannon protruding out the top that was capable of shooting rockets or explosive rounds which were very effective and feared in combat. However, they weren’t indestructible and there was one weapon invented for countering tanks. The rocket launcher aka the bazooka was “Primarily used as an antitank weapon, the bazooka could hit a target up to several hundred yards away with great accuracy”(Artillery). The bazooka was a major defensive and offensive weapon capable of blowing up tanks and destroying objects from far away. The bazooka completely revolutionized war and significant battles because the introduction of portable rocket launchers caused battles and gunfights to have a man gunned with a rocket launcher at each side. The creation of these forms of artillery impacted the outcomes of war since 5000 BC and it is evident that as time progressed artillery advanced due to newfound technological advancements throughout new times. In addition, technological advancements led to the development and creation of the United Nations.
The advancements of war and technology including the new weapons of mass destruction and more advanced forms of artillery led to wars being even more dangerous than it naturally is. This led to the creation of the United Nations because after WWII there was a need for the four goals the UN had. These were “To keep peace throughout the world, to develop friendships between nations, to help nations work together to improve the lives of poor people; to stop hunger, disease, and illiteracy; and to promote respect for human rights and freedoms, and to provide an opportunity for countries to discuss how to achieve these goals”. These goals were needed to be met in order to prevent another world war. These goals went against the idea of warfare without trying to find a resolution that both sides agree on. Bringing the idea that due to all these wars and technological advancements, what is the point for more people to die when there can be resolutions found and so all of these technological advancements cannot be used. Even though war and technology along the years have severely enhanced and advanced war itself should not be promoted which shows how that same technology advanced relations between countries all around the globe. The UN was created due to these advancements in technology and war because it made war even more dangerous and unpredictable than before. With atomic bombs and machine guns armies are capable of doing anything meaning wars can become more globally dangerous and can result in nuclear warfare which definitely isn’t ideal to say the least. Overall, the United Nations was created in order to prevent these technological advancements from being used and to prevent nuclear wars especially in this current day.
In conclusion, technology has greatly advanced war making war more dangerous in a global scape. The advancements discussed severely changed outcomes of battles and entire wars but these advancements while being enhanced and better was very dangerous making declarations of war being way more serious than ever. Which brings the idea that even though technology can be useful it can always lead to problems especially on a global scale regarding war. Technology is always going to advance no matter what but in the ways it may advance may not always be the best or safest. Technology has advanced war such as the creation of atomic bombs and different forms of artillery but also led to the creation of the United Nations.
