As the end of the school year fast approaches, it's good to start thinking of ways to improve yourself and your grades. Some of us are going to high school next year, others are starting a new year at Dyker, whatever it may be, these study tips will assist you in getting exceptional grades.
Study Tip Number 1: Listening to Classical Music/ Study Music
Researchers believe that listening to classical music can benefit the brain, sleep patterns, the immune system and stress levels. Researchers from a University in France had found that students who listened to classical music in the background for their lectures tend to learn the material better, whereas those who didn't listen to classical music didn’t score as high on the quiz. We also found that when you listen to this music helps you relax and you aren’t as stressed.
Study Tip Number 2: Take Lots of Legible Notes
Even though to some people this may seem like a very difficult task, it really isn’t and this simple change will improve the way you study tremendously. Highlighting your notes and writing on the side of your notebook small things that you might need for coming exams. Writing in a handwriting that is neat and legible will also help a lot, and even though you may be able to read it now it might not be as legible to you in the future when you have to study for your tests.
Study Tip Number 3: Set Study Goals
Setting study goals for yourself can help a lot. Giving yourself a goal and then rewarding your hard work is a good incentive to do better. You can set a goal on how much you want to study that day, or how long you will study for. Setting study goals motivates you to finish your work , it can encourage you to push through obstacles.
Study Tip Number 4: Time Management
Time management is an extremely important tip that can help you tremendously. If you have clubs, after school activities, hw, tests coming up, and you want to hang out with your friends, prioritize some activities, such as doing hw, clubs, and studying. There will always be a lot of time to hang out with friends. You can create a schedule for yourself, dedicating set times for yourself to study, do hw, and have a relaxing and fun break.
Study Tip Number 5: Have a clean study space
A clean space means a clean mind. Keeping your study space clean is a small but important tip. If you have a cluttered space then it will be hard to focus completely on studying, an unkept space is a big distraction. Limiting distractions is important when studying, so keeping your space uncluttered and clean is key!
