Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

By Roy Zhang & Ryan Zhang

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics. It is 126 minutes long and rated PG-13 so children under the age of 13 won’t be able to watch it without a parent or guardian. The movie costs twelve dollars to watch in the movie theaters. It also available on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime video, iTunes and Google Play.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens with an edge-of-your-seat scene showing Doctor Strange trying to save a girl. After he saves her, he wakes up from his dream. He later sees the girl being attacked by a giant one-eyed octopus. Strange remembers the girl, learns her name, America, and discovers that every dream leads to another universe. America has the ability to travel through the multiverse but she doesn’t know how to control it. Strange must protect the girl throughout the movie, for he can’t afford the powers of America to go to Wanda.

The movie has a rating of 3.7 stars, 74% on Rotten Tomatoes and 60% on Metacritic. This isn’t a very good score for a movie but considering it was only released in May, we can expect the rating to go up.

Spirited Away

By Amy Zhen

Directed by Hayao Miyazaki, “Spirited Away” portrays the life of young Chihiro, who stumbles across an abandoned amusement park. Her parents unexpectedly turned into pigs. Chihiro encounters Haku, who explains that the park is a resting place for the supernatural after they have spent time in the earthly realm. Haku informs her that she must serve here in order to free herself and her parents. Chihiro desires to be freed from the spirit realm and return to the earth realm with her parents. Chihiro meets No-Face, a dark spirit who devours other spirits. Together, No-Face and Chihiro works at the resort.

Spirited Away, which won an Oscar and earned 395.8 billion dollars, is still regarded as one of the most memorable anime films. If you enjoy fantasy adventure films, I strongly suggest this one. The film's key themes of selfishness, loneliness, and the loss of somebody’s past. The film depicts Chihiro growing into a strong independent lady who helps herself and everyone around her, even if they aren’t always polite (which can be a role model for young girls). This movie is undoubtedly a 5/5.

Chip’n Dale

Rescue rangers

By Gavin Moyano

Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers is a soft reboot to the 1989 cartoon Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers. This a light hearted movie intended to familiarize the new day and age with Chip and Dale. I get surprised with all the cameos they were able to sneak into this movie without owning the properties of the characters. They turned characters into slight alterations, for they made Sonic into Ugly Sonic, they made Peter Pan into a mob boss named Sweet Pea and they got Batman in by doing Batman vs E.T. The movie follows chip and dale by switching perspectives between the newly 3-D dale and the same old Chip. Dale reinvented himself and now he is an internet name. Chip is an office worker and an accountant . Monterey Jack, their old pal, is kidnapped by the pirating company that changes them enough so their copyright holder can sue. They can't let them pirate Monterey so they go on a rescue ranger mission to get Monterey!
