10 Ways to be Trendy this Summer
Are you seeing friends and fellow fashionistas walking around with adorable trending outfits? Want to know how to emulate that look yourself?
Here’s how to join them with a few simple and inexpensive wardrobe fixes:
1) Hoodie/ Blazer Pair
What is it?
Hoodies under blazers ? Looks like you just threw on a jacket last minute to be “fancy” for the Zoom meeting in 2020. The blazers bring a little class to an otherwise very casual outfit.
How do I follow this trend?
To follow this trend, make sure the blazer is a bit oversized (not tight fitting) so that the (also) oversized hoodie fits under it comfortably. Next, pair it with some jeans or leggings and sneakers to complete your comfy casual, but fashionable look.
2) Cottage Core Dresses
What is it?
This trend is meant to romanticize life on the farm. It brings the simplicity of rural life to our big city. Picture romantic dresses, tiny puffed sleeves, and flower patterns.

Participate in this trend with just one piece: a dress! Pair it with cute wedges, heels, or even sneakers.
3) Platform Boots
What is it?
Chunky boots (of all lengths) have been trending this past winter. Choose a neutral color like black or white that can stand out (as it’s meant to) with any outfit.

Pair this comfy edgy look with ANY fitted pants or skirts for a completely stylish look without trying too hard. These boots are a perfect piece for winter or summer because they complement shorts, skirts, jeans and leggings!
4) Chunky Sneakers
What is it?
Chunky sneakers of all colors have been taking over the shoe stores! Fila, Nike, and Converse have taken over the chunky sneaker/platform sneaker trend. These will give you a little height (if you’re short) and also tons of comfort in each step! These sneakers will elevate ANY (and I mean any) casual look) and I don’t mean just literally.

These sneakers will pull together any look from skirts, dresses, to good old plain jeans.
5) Oversized T-Shirts
What is it?
Celebrities have been rocking the oversized T- shirt look for a while now. These T-shirts are a bit tricky to pull off because you could end up looking like you just walked out of bed if not done right.
How do I follow this trend?
Try going up 2 or 3 on your normal t-shirt size. For example, if you’re an XS try a large t-shirt. Pair these oversized tees with knee high boots or chucky sneakers and a matching purse to complete the look.
6) Colorful Scrunchies
What is it?
2021 and 2022 are all about bringing back Y2K fashion. Fashion from 20 years ago (early 2000s- before all of you were born). One of the staples of Y2K fashion was oversize colorful scrunchies.

Wear these on your wrist as a statement bracelet or put them in your hair to finish a look. Try these in bright colors and satin material for a sleek look to add to any outfit.
7) Bold colors
What is it?
This spring is all about bright greens, pinks, purples, and yellows. Matching statement suits and bold colored separates can be found in most stores!
How do I follow this trend?
Forget matching with this trend! Instead, wear multiple bold colors together to form a complete trendy look. It can be a bit tricky to know which colors to pair so if you’re stuck, try matching complementary colors. Blue and orange, pink and green, yellows and purples. Although, if you’re really brave, you can pair any of these together.
8) Oversized Slacks and Trousers
What is it?
Bring back the 80s with these comfortable and incredibly stylish trousers!
How do I follow this trend?
Pair these loose fitting pants with any mid length top and sneakers or sandals to complete a put together look. Bright colors or mute colors don’t matter as long as you make these pants the center of your look!
9) Cat Eye Sunglasses
What is it?
Sunglasses have always been a way to seem a lot more stylish that you really are. There are so many different frames, colors, sizes, and styles to choose from. However, lately, cat eye shaped sunglasses have been part of the ultimate trend.

Finish any of the looks mentioned in this article with this final finishing piece. Try cat eye sunglasses in bright colors with thick frames to really bring attention to this piece.
10) Matching Sets
What is it?
The ultimate trend for ALL the seasons are matching or co-ord sets. These two piece sets INSTANTLY make you look like a put together fashionista! The best part about this trend is that it is two pieces that you can mix and match with other pieces to make EVEN MORE outfits out of your wardrobe.

Purchase different types of sets such as pants and tops, skirt and top, or shorts and top set so that you have an outfit for each season/occasion. These sets go great with chunky (or regular) sneakers or with a nice chunky heel.
Hairstyles and Accessories for Short and Long Hair
By Kostela Lila
Half Bun Half Down
Start with a tight ponytail with half of your hair up and hair down.
Then gently tug on the hair on top of your head to make it look more voluminous.
After, tease hair at the base of the elastic (to give your bun a fuller look) and twist it around the base.
Secure with bobby pins and adjust it to the shape you want.
Half up Half Down Ponytail
Long Hair
First, pull your hair up to a half ponytail. (Leave your bangs down if you want.)
After, brush out underneath the half ponytail. Separate the top and bottom equally.
Finally, tie the top up with a hair tie.
Low Ponytail
First, take your first two pieces of hair and leave them out.
Take a hair tie and tie the rest of your hair.
Add a hair clip above the hair tie for more style.
Space Buns with Braids (you will need help to create this style)
Start by splitting your hair in half equally.
Then make two french braids stop half way in the herd and twist the remaining hair into a bun.
Lastly add hair clips to the bun.
For short hair: (Follow the same steps as above but don’t make french braids)
Half down hair with braids and buns
First, make small braids on the top of your head. If you would like, leave the front two pieces of hair out.
Tie the hair a little above the midway of your head, and then continue making a braid until the end of your hair.
Tie it and then go around the top of your head.
Add some hair clips to the buns.
Accessories
Tie your look together with these finishing pieces.
Hair Scarves
Some days your hair feels gorgeous, other days, not so much, and you just can’t be bothered to deal with it. Whether you’re trying to hide a bad hair day, hoping to protect your strands from wind or rain or you’re just bored and looking to try a new ’do, a headscarf can help.
Decorated Bobby Pins
Bobby pins have never been more fascinating. The trick to pulling off this style is to wear a lot of pearls, rhinestones, and other colorful shapes. You can’t go wrong with some free-form bobby pins, and they’ll keep any flyaways in control!
Hair Scrunchies
Scrunchies have arrived, and they’re bigger than ever. You’ve probably seen the plush, oversize satin and organza ones recently, and they’re set to be huge this spring and summer. Decorate your ponytail with it for a flash of color, or wrap it around your wrist to complement stacked rings.
Large Hair Claw Clips
Claw clips are everywhere these days. They add a certain effortlessness to any outfit, while also being practical. You can use them to throw your hair up when you're on the run and even keep pesky flyaways out of your face.
