The sad...

2022 was an amazing year but we will never forget those times when we had to jump over the obstacles life has thrown at us. I cannot wait to see what 2023 will bring us!

Russia Invades Ukraine

The Russian Invasion was one of the worst things that can happen, especially due to its long lasting impact on us. On February 24th, 2022, Russia announced the beginning of its 'special military operation' against Ukraine. Shortly after, Russia began attacking Ukraine using missiles, rockets, and airstrikes. These were followed by a large-scale ground invasion on four primary fronts.

Variant Strains Increase

Covid 19 started in 2019 and we are still dealing with the effects! The amount of people who caught covid was rapidly decreasing. However, after a short while, another variant was discovered! This was such a scary time, but it will surely be remembered in most history books! It shows us the world will have to learn how to live with the 'new normal'.

Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth was loved by so many people! If you do not know Queen Elizabeth. Reigning for 70 years, she was the queen of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms. And she has changed tons of people's lives!

REST IN PEACE, QUEEN ELIZABETH!

...And the good!

Let’s look at the bright side of things!

This year wasn’t only bad, there were some amazing things that happened this year!

Apple becomes the first company to reach a stock market value of $3 trillion

In January, Apple’s value briefly hit the $3 trillion mark, making it the first publicly traded company to do so. Its value has since declined, as it and other companies face a skittish economy still reeling from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and record inflation.

Indigenous and Global South voices were finally heard at the latest United Nations climate summit.

Thanks to the relentless work of Indigenous peoples and organizers from the Global South, marginalized communities not only got into this year but their voices were finally heard and a historic “loss and damage fund” was established to help vulnerable countries cope with the destructive impacts of climate change. This development marks an important achievement for civil society and collective action in the Global South that has been nearly three decades in the making. Now we have to push the wealthier countries to come through with the funds, and to finally get serious about our own transition to clean energy before it is too late to avoid global catastrophe.

The World Cup, Argentina Scores!

The World Cup was a spectacular event that created a sense of global solidarity and joy, with Argentina’s win lifting up all of Latin America. Argentina are world champions for the third time after a heart-stopping final at FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
