Happy New Year!

Every Christmas my family eats a special meal and we have a big feast. Every dish has its own meaning!

Here are some examples:

  • Lettuce represents 生菜, which means that you have to stay active till the next Christmas.

  • Noodles which represents 长寿, which means a long and happy life because noodles are long.

  • Fish means 年年有余, when translated means "there is always something left for next year!"

  • Spring rolls mean 财富, which stands for wealth. Dumplings also mean wealth because they are shaped like gold in Chinese.

  • Steamed chicken represents 家庭, which means family.

These are some of the delicious foods that me and my family eat for Christmas!

Here is how to make noodles which represent longevity

  1. Buy it from the store. Specifically glass noodles which is the traditional Chinese noodle.

  2. You boil water and put it into the boiling water. Let it sit for a while.

  3. When you think it is ready then drain the water out.

  4. When the water is drained, put some soy sauce in it. Put enough for your taste. Now you're done, now you have noodles to eat. Have a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year!
