Zones of Regulation
Zones of Regulation
The Zones of Regulation help us understand our feelings and what our bodies are telling us. We use colors to show how we’re feeling:
Blue Zone – Feeling tired, sad, or not having much energy.
Green Zone – Feeling calm, happy, ready to learn, and in control.
Yellow Zone – Feeling excited, silly, worried, or starting to lose some control.
Red Zone – Feeling very mad, out of control, or having really big emotions.
All of the zones are normal; we all feel them sometimes! Learning about the zones helps us notice our feelings and find tools to get back to the zone that’s best for learning.
👉 At Home Tip for Families: Try using the colors at home when your child has big feelings. You can say, “It looks like you’re in the Blue Zone, what could help your body feel better?” or “You’re in the Yellow Zone, should we try taking a break or a deep breath?” This helps kids learn to recognize and manage their emotions anywhere.
