Hands Are Not for Hitting
Learning to Use Our Hands for Good
This week in our Learning for Life Boosts lessons, our Kinder and 1st grade students explored the book Hands Are Not for Hitting. Through this story, we discussed why it’s important to keep our hands kind and safe, and how we can use them for helpful, positive actions instead of hurting others.
Students learned ways to express their feelings safely, like using words, asking for help, or taking deep breaths, and practiced thinking about how their actions affect others. This lesson helps build the foundation for respectful, caring interactions with friends, classmates, and family.
At home: You can continue the conversation by asking your child how they can use their hands for good. For example, they can clap to celebrate, help clean up, draw pictures, or give high-fives!
