Each K-12 school has a School Community Council, and every charter school has a Trust Land Council. The principal, teachers, and parents comprise each Council, which determines the greatest education needs at its particular school. Following discussion and voting, each Council allocates their School LAND Trust Funds accordingly. Many schools opt to purchase technology to improve computer labs, while others use School LAND Trust Funds to pay teacher and aide salaries to reduce class sizes. Formal vote to approve new members:
Parents approve other parent members.
Licensed school employees approve other licensed school employees.
Election of Committee Officers:
Chair – Must be a parent. The Chair will conduct Trustland committee meetings and collaborate with administration to prepare the Trustland grant plan for the 2025–2026 school year.
Vice-Chair – May be either a parent or school employee. The Vice-Chair supports the Chair and conducts meetings in the Chair’s absence.
Note: The principal may not hold an officer position but retains voting rights on all items.
Review of attached Trustland Grant Rules of Order and Procedures. Committee to vote (yay or nay) on adopting these rules for the year.
January Meeting
Presentation of a proposed Trustland grant plan for the 2025–2026 school year by the Chair.
Committee discussion and input on the school’s academic goals and proposed use of funds.
Evaluation of whether the plan:
Directly impacts student instruction in math, science, language arts, or other board priorities.
Establishes measurable, student-focused, and academic goals.
March Meeting
Committee vote on the final Trustland grant plan for the 2025–2026 school year.
Submission of the approved plan to the state.
If approved by the state, no further action will be required.
If revisions are requested, the committee will reconvene, review changes, vote again, and resubmit the plan.
