Motion & Shallow DOP (Depth of Field) Due 10/23

Your objective will be to photograph 100 images capturing motion and shallow depth of field creatively. You will need to use 50 images to photograph either stopping or showing motion and a short, and 50 images showing shallow DOF

Motion - is controlled by the adjusting of the shutter speeds. A slow shutter speed (lower than 60) will show motion USE A TRIPOD IF YOU ARE SHOOTING BELOW 60, while a fast shutter speed (faster than 60) will stop motion. 

Depth of field - is controlled by the adjusting of the aperture or f-stop, the focal length of your lens, and the distance you are from your subject. A large aperture (f-2 thru f-5.6) will have a shallow DOF, while a small aperture (f-16 thru f-32) will have a large DOF.

You will be graded on the following:

• Correct Naming Convention: LastName_FirstName_ProjectName-##.jpeg

• There will be 2 Grades per Assignment

  1. Turning in 10 images on the assigned due date (5 Motion & 5 Shallow DOF)

  2. Turning in a contact sheet on the assigned due date, minimum of 100 images on the contact sheet

• Correctly capturing the assignment specifications

• Creating unique compositions with interesting subject matter

• Quality of retouching

• Use of the Elements of Art: Color, Form, Line, Shape, Space, Texture, Value

• Use of the Principles of Design: Balance, Contrast, Emphasis, Movement (Rhythm), Perspective, Repetition (Pattern), Unity

***If you take photos of your pet it must be a well thought out, planned composition

***DO NOT TURN IN MULTIPLE ANGLES OF THE SAME SHOT. EACH SHOT MUST BE UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT.
