A theory of improvement is a team's shared understanding and belief of the actions needed to address the problem or gap in their system. Teams develop their Theory of Improvement by answering the three questions of improvers:
What specifically are we trying to accomplish?
What changes might we introduce and why?
How will we know that a change is an improvement?
The answers to these three questions help to make your theory of improvement explicit. The tools in this section will support your team with identifying your theory of improvement.
