Understanding Current Status through Data Analysis involves gathering and examining existing data to assess the performance of a system. This step is crucial for identifying areas that need improvement and establishing baselines before investigating the root causes of any challenges. By analyzing data, teams can gain insights into patterns, trends, and disparities that inform decision-making and guide the design of interventions. The goal is to create a clear, evidence-based picture of the current state before initiating changes or improvements.
Things to Think About
Where does our analysis locate the problem? Do we locate it in people or recognize the ways that the current system produces the outcomes? What assumptions or biases do we need to explore?
Do the data reviewed consider the growth that was achieved?
Have we attended to and recognize the assets that exist in our students, communities and organizations?
Something to Try
Disaggregate the data by site, grade level, etc. to identify bright spots.
Compare data over three years to look for growth trends. Investigate and identify the factors that may have contributed to this positive trajectory.
Participate in community activities to understand the assess and value of the community’s culture.
