On October 13, 2025, the CYBHI School-Linked Partnership & Capacity Grant team hosted its monthly Community of Practice session, spotlighting the San Diego County Office of Education and their work supporting LEAs in the Capacity Grants program. San Diego COE shared their journey in designing and implementing the capacity grants, particularly highlighting how they support LEAs who are engaged in direct allocations and consortia models, and what tools they developed to support this work.

On September 9, 2025, the CYBHI School-Linked Partnership & Capacity Grant team hosted its monthly Community of Practice session, spotlighting Alameda County Health and their three decades of experience building and sustaining school health centers in partnership with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and community-based organizations. Speakers highlight how the county’s 28 school-based clinics deliver integrated medical, dental, behavioral health, and youth development services, while addressing equity and access for underserved students.

On August 12, 2025, the CYBHI School-Linked Partnership & Capacity Grant team hosted its monthly Community of Practice session, spotlighting Butte County Office of Education and their innovative approaches to building sustainable systems of school-based care. This session featured Matt Reddam and Shirley Williams, who shared how the Butte County Office of Education is integrating Certified Wellness Coaches (CWCs) into COST/CARE teams, supporting district leaders in effectively leveraging CWCs, and strengthening collaboration with school-based practitioners.

On May 13, 2025, the CYBHI School-Linked Partnership & Capacity Grant team hosted a community of Practice session focused on Enhance Care Management (ECM). This month's peer learning sessions features Leah Lamattina and Dr. Peter Stoll from the Humboldt County Office of Education, highlighting their innovative efforts to implement Enhanced Care Management (ECM) to support foster and homeless youth. The video explores how cross-sector partnerships, braided funding, and in-house training of community health workers are being leveraged to expand wellness services and build sustainable, school-based systems of care.

On April 8, 2025 the CYBHI School-Linked Partnership & Capacity Grant team hosted a Community of Practice session focused on the LEA BOP (Medi-Cal Billing Option Program). This month's collection of peer learning sessions highlights how local education agencies (LEAs) can effectively leverage the LEA Medi-Cal Billing Option Program (LABOP) to build sustainable school-based health services. Featuring expert guidance from WestEd and an in-depth case study from the Lancaster School District, these videos explore practical approaches to blending and braiding funding, optimizing Medi-Cal reimbursements, and navigating cost reporting, audits, and reinvestment strategies.

On March 11, 2025, the CYBHI School-Linked Partnership & Capacity Grant team hosted a Community of Practice session focused on Medi-Cal Specialty Mental Health Services. Featuring insights from Riverside COE, Jurupa USD, and Moreno Valley USD, the session showcased real-world strategies for building sustainable school-based mental health systems. With opening reflections from Sacramento and Santa Clara COEs, the event encouraged shared learning and wellness-centered leadership, while district-led presentations explored funding pathways, onboarding, and key success factors—advancing the "Blending & Braiding" series with practical, replicable solutions for California schools.
On February 11, 2025, the CYBHI School-Linked Partnership & Capacity Grant administration team hosted a Community of Practice (CoP) session for County Offices of Education- launching a focused series on blending and braiding funding sources to strengthen school-based behavioral health services. Now, the most valuable insights from that 90-minute kickoff are distilled into 12 bite-sized, actionable clips, each designed to equip you with expert strategies, real-world examples, and practical funding guidance you can take back and implement immediately.

- In January 2025, the Community of Practice hosted a presentation from a team of subject matter experts from the Deveau Burr Group, LLC. These experts provide targeted support to County Offices of Education (COEs) as they navigate the complexities of integrating mental health services within charter schools and small Local Education Agencies (LEAs). COEs can apply the knowledge and expertise gained from this presentation to diverse environments.
- The Santa Clara County Office of Education School Health and Billing team was the focus of the December 2024 Community of Practice. The presenters shared the journey of building their team, navigating the challenges of selecting an Electronic Health Record system, and filing their first Fee Schedule claim. - In November’s CoP, participants joined two Peer Learning Discussions on topics including Billing Systems, EHRs, LEA Implementation Plans, Grant Extensions, Service Delivery, Wellness Coaches, and Training Development.

- September’s CoP focused on the Behavioral Health Workforce and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Shanine Coats, Director of Strategic Initiatives, presented on SCOE's Centers of Wellness and Career Pipelines.
- August’s CoP focused on Collective Impact, featuring speakers Dr. Sohil Sud and Autumn Boylan from DHCS. The COE spotlight highlighted Ventura COE's collective impact efforts within their county.
- July's CoP featured program updates, peer learning on building service delivery infrastructure, and county spotlights. San Joaquin and Sonoma Counties shared their efforts, followed by a Q&A session.
- June’s CoP spotlighted the impactful work of the Fresno County Office of Education and El Dorado County Office of Education.
- May’s CoP focused on collaboration to enhance school-linked behavioral health services as part of the $400M grant initiative.
- In April’s CoP the implementation plan, program deliverables timeline, and framework were clarified and updated.
- March's CoP covered grant deliverables, funding uses, priority activities, and tools like the COE baseline survey and implementation planning.
- The School-Linked Partnerships and Capacity Grant is a 400M one-time investment to enhance school-linked behavioral health services and support operational readiness for the statewide multi-payer fee schedule. This kick-off webinar was our introduction to the mission of this program, the key partners and what next steps look like for County Offices of Education across the State of California.
